Can I make a search in Vine's default to the New Testament?
While doing some searches in Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testaments, it doesn't always go to the correct word. For example, double clicking on "truth" in 1 John 1:8, Vine's brings up "Faithfulness" from Hebrew. Strong's correctly brings up 225.
In another example, "confess" in 1 John 1:9 brings up "consent" in Vine's while "Confess" is only a few pages away.
I reindexed thinking there might be an indexing issue, but nothing changed.
Is there any way to force it to use only the New Testament, or Old Testament? Are there known issues with the search and Vine's, or other resources?
By the way, I am very happy with the speed of my system, and Logos is amazing software! (also excited that I can print Notes!!) Please keep up the excellent work Mac Developers!

Hi Quintin, welcome to the Forum!
Sorry there is not a way in Basic search to search a portion of a book.
But with Vine's there are a couple of ways which might assist you shown below:
A. From the search window you can select Heading Text which will help locate the exact key word that you are searching for. So you will need to click on the All Text (shows initially) field and in the drop down click on Search Fields and click to check Heading Text.
B. Notice in your search results the headings now contain your word that you are searching for.

From the New Testament of one of your Bible's that contain a Reverse Interlinear, you can use the Right Click menu to assist you in using Vine's.
A. Find your word that you want to lookup in your New Testament. Then right click on it.
B. In the pop-up menu on the right side, click on Lemma (you may see more than one lemma, click on the correct one).
C. Now on the left side of the pop-up menu, scroll down and click on Vine's. [you will need Vine's Prioritized in high order for original language dictionaries]
After clicking on Vine's in the Right Click menu Logos4 will take you to your word in Vine's

Hi Aaron,
the 1st portion is found in the Detailed Search Help wiki page. You would need to look at the section on Limiting your search to part of your library for use with Vine's. You would also need to see the section on Filters for Heading Text. Using these together to search a book is not extraordinary. Something new that was added to L4 version 4.2a is the Filter Large Text which might be even more useful in other book titles.

Glad that you found this useful! You might want to review these wiki pages and experiment with the features to give you even a deeper understanding which will be useful to you later.
