Suggestion: update of APA formating

I’m
one of those who also would like to see a patch updating the APA
formatting style from version four to six. There have been substantial
changes in the basic formatting of references (such as using italics
instead of underlining for source titles) besides a range of updates for
electronic sources. It is normal for students to be required to use the
current version of APA for research papers. Making formatting changes
from version four to version six manually in a reference page is a lot
of work and it would not take much effort on the part of Logos to update
the formatting style. This update would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed!

And if Logos needs to charge for citation upgrades (not just for APA, but other formats too), I would be willing to pay for them. One thing I don't understand is why Logos does not ensure accuracy on citation formatting. For those who want to use Logos software to write peer-reviewed journal articles, professional and accurate compliance to citation standards is a must!

I wonder how hard it would be to use some of the existing functionality within Logos to allow users to modify the Citation Styles or create their own, copying from existing ones, etc.? That way someone could modify the styles if a professor requires something different. I have had professors that define a specific style regardless of the current version of a style, it's just what they are used to looking at.

If this were done, it would get Logos out of the business of having an obsolete Citation Style being supported in the latest version of the product.

For journal publications, at least the ones I've used (all secular journals), a citation style is specified. There's no room for modifications.

I have had professors that define a specific style regardless of the current version of a style, it's just what they are used to looking at.

Probably occur in the academic school environment. Perhaps your professors were used to an older style of citation that was not current. For publication, a standard citation style is specified, usually the most current one.
