Can a PDF document be set up to function like a book in landscape mode on an ipad?

I notice when I use ibooks that a pdf document works like a book and the pages turn fine in regular mode, but when I turn the Ipad to landscape mode, the page just gets much smaller and centers on the screen. Is there any way to get a PDF to function like a book does in landscape mode, where there are two pages side by side?
