Pre-pub

Hi there, does anyone know what the deal is with the term "under contract" in pre-pubs? Does that mean it is still waiting for enough orders or that it is getting made at the moment? I have an order on pre-pub that originally said it was shipping in Sept last year and then nothing happened while it still had the same expired date, and then it changed a couple of months after that to "under contract" and hasn't moved since.

Under contract means that it's being typed, tagged and coded for Logos. All the orders are in, and they've contracted the work out to the shop that develop the books. I really don't know f this means it's outsourced, or if Logos does it in house, but they have everything at least double keyed (Typed twice) to ensure the fewest possible errors. At least that means that typos have to be typed in twice to make it into the books. :-)

If you had a book that changed back to under contract it means that issues were found that needed attention before it was released. Hopefully that translates to a higher quality text in the long run, though the wait can be frustrating.

"Under Contract" means that there were enough orders to begin the process of getting the book formatted for Logos use. However, there is never a definite time period before that particular book is shipped. I am going to guess that you are specifcially wondering about the Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library or one of those series in that libray. I placed an order for that series last September and it was supposed to ship in October of last year, but they were waiting on some confirmation from the publsiher and then so it was delayed and then no ship date given. Anyway, long answer to say that they are working on any book that is "under contract," meaning that they do have enough orders to begin the work!

Okay, thanks for that...It is actually the OT Pseudepigrapha 2 vol set of Charlesworth's...I have been using the books for my thesis and was hoping to have the logos version in time to use it, but at this rate I won't need it any more by the time it is made. I guess I will just continue to be patient!

As I understand it it is made, and has been so for half a year; the publisher just won't allow them to release it.

The last I heard was a claim that the guy in charge feels confident it will be released "soon". However, considering that I've heard "soon" for many many months now, I'm not holding my breath... Though I'll be happy if it's true this time; the exchange rate is great for the moment.

Yeah, OTP is part of the Yale library also. When the Yale went back to under contract so did the OTP. I have it ordered also so that I could use it for my thesis. Unfortunately I finished the thesis today But I'll still get the work, I plan to continue writing in this field.
