Good advice to improve performance

I was reading an article this morning on PC computer security and it had a checklist of things to do. Three of the items listed might be helpful to L4M users simply because they can help increase your computer's performance:
- Is unnecessary software removed?
- Is unnecessary autorun software prevented from autostarting?
- Are unneeded services/daemons stopped or removed?
