WHAT IF: EEC on CP

The first volume of the EEC is tentatively scheduled to ship on June 1, 2011.

What is it worth? Why not try CP – If LOGOS does not get the needed funds [orders] then use the Pre Pub orders as is.

What if the ECC was dropped into CP with the price being per volume with the understanding that one was to purchase the complete set. [44 times your bid total]

IF LOGOS gets 40,000 bids [almost every forum poster plus some more for the lurkers] at $10 per volume [$440 for the set over the next 10 years]

That’s $400,000 in the pocket on June 1, 2011

Payment to be made on shipment of each volume. [no extra fee as you need to act to ship so charge also as most CPs]

Or maybe pay for three on June 1, 2011 and get the last two ‘free’ [as they were prepaid]

As I understand CP it is used for Public Domain ‘stuff’. But the publisher of record is LOGOS so why not try CP?

If it works LOGOS makes a mint [less per sale but many many more sales] If it does not then go with the Pre Pub plan.

I agree [mostly] BUT We do not know how much they need I.E. how many orders at (say) $10 [per volume] do they need?

Real Wild [Crazy?] Idea: How much would each Logos 3 and 4 user need to put up to get the entire set 'free' [after the up front payment]

[[Have Platinum - there are some sets there that I would not have bought if not in the package - found an interesting statement in my study today - just for fun I checked the price of that resource - sky high by itself - I want EEC but will never get it unless I try now - 1000 sales at 600 and pay now or 40000 at 440 over the next 6 years or so and pay when get (and maybe pay for 3 or 5 up front for this special set)] [ONE of my jobs was to come up with ideas - most got shot down - few were justified - came up with enough good ones to keep the job]

Most of the authors will be fronted money well before their work begins. Logos seems to be operating on a "debt-free" model. That would explain the unusual requirement to start paying for the whole set upfront. [C]

As strange as this seems, I still think it is well worth it.

Where? [please] With the BLOG on payment plans they still seem to be asking [begging?] for [many] more orders. 20 times the current number of orders at half the price is 10 times the cash. [[and how many will they sell at full price after all the pre pubs are used up [what will be their future cash flow be?] ]] [imho we have until June 1 to state our views on the price and payment plans - I suggested that they leave the pre pub in place and see [experiment] to see if there is more cash in a lower price - but then it sometimes seems that if the first few bidders bid high everyone else runs away]

REAL DUMB IDEA - what if in the next month 40,000 posters added a post to this thread that they, given the chance, would be willing to pay $200 for the set and pay up front? that would give Logos a month to try a different price to get that $8,000,000 [for all I know they already have more then that - I am just trying] [What is the max posts count in a thread?]

I will start - I could come up with $200 on June 1, 2011 for the complete 44 volume ECC. [39,999 to go]

I think, no, I know.....
You are imagining a much greater number of folks want to buy this resource today than actually exist. That is good. It shows me how excited you are about the proposed set. I am too. And so are many others who realize what it promises. I believe Logos has a good handle on what it will take to get this project completed. While your numbers may add up on paper they presuppose a wider base than is presently there. Logos has the figures on how many users buy sets priced at $200, how many buy at $500, and how many buy at $1000+. They also know what types of titles people buy. I suspect there are not 40,000 Logos users who need the EEC or even know what it is. There are also preachers who do want, need and know how to make good use of this resource that don't even have $200 to spend on it. The real world is very harsh but that is where Logos must operate.

To help you will have to post three times stating the you will come up with the $200 in full on June 1, 2011 (and get 39,996 more post so stating) and remember to count down the remainder counter
