Ability to change Preferred Bible from within the layout view.

When you regularly work in both Swedish, English, Greek and Hebrew like I do, you sometimes want different preferred Bibles for different purposes. Presently, the only way to change the preferred Bible is to go to the Home Page, and then back again. Since that takes several minutes, it generally isn't worth the effort...

I want to be able to switch the preferred Bible as easily from the workspace as from the Home page, and I also want to be able to specify that a certain layout should always be opened with a certain preferred Bible.

You can switch it in the library's prioritization list. The preferred bible is the top bible in the list--so just keep the library window open with the Prioritize panel showing, and you can switch them on the fly.

Why not prioritize all of them in the approximate order of the frequency you use each? Then you can right-click on a citation and select which one you want open.

I agree - not for same reasons. I use different preferred Bibles based on the required translation of the lectionary I am using or based on the canon of the material I am working on.

I guess I could, but a) it requires Library and Prioritization open at all times; b) it would soon make my prioritization a complete mess; and c) it doesn't give the ability to tie a certain Bible to a certain layout. Also, I'm not absolutely certain it does the same thing at all times. I seem to remember there are cases when it doesn't.

a) It doesn't work for pop-ups; b) it only gives access to 5 Bibles; c) it would totally mess up Text Comparison; and d) (again) it doesn't give the ability to tie a certain Bible to a certain layout.

Hum, you're right. I made unjustified assumptions based on your reference to translation languages. I guess I have to go back and draw an argument map of my epistemology and see if I can justify my statement. [:$]

Hum, you're right.

Let's see: Bibel -82 for personal preference; Bible 2000 if I have to use the one read at church; mostly NRSVCE and NAB for English; NRSV if I need an RI; Fox (and JPS when I get around to buying it) for Jewish books; CJB for Messianic resources... -- and that's before I've even started on Greek and Hebrew... I think that covers your lectionary and canon reasons as well as the language one. [;)]

Well, I can't very well set a non-Logos Bible as my preferred Bible, can I?

But apart from that, I'm not English, remember? Before Logos, I don't think I had ever opened an English Bible, apart from the NIV, which I happen to have on paper somewhere (mostly for traveling purposes; finding a really small lightweight Bible in Swedish is virtually impossible), though I guess I must have heard at least two different translations while I lived in England. (And obviously I've read hundreds of quotes in various books.) So most of these translations and translators that you throw around, I had never even heard about a few months ago. [:)]

Btw, it would really help if you checked your spelling in cases like this. I assume you mean Alter? Took me about 10 minutes' searching to figure out.

Sorry - I know how hard it is to deal with misprints in a foreign language. But remember I'm American - we assume everyone will learn OUR English and we don't have to learn anyone else's language - not even the Brits'.[;)]

Sorry - I know how hard it is to deal with misprints in a foreign language. But remember I'm American - we assume everyone will learn OUR English and we don't have to learn anyone else's language - not even the Brits'.
