Quickverse Libraries
Is there any possibility of a conversion program being developed so that Quickverse Books could be incorporated into Logos? I appreciate that these may not have all the functionality of books developed for the Logos 4 platform but anything would be a big help to those of us who have a large Quickverse selection.

David,
QuickVerse resources usually aren't for free, so this would require the agreement on the publisher's part. This is very unlikely to happen, since it is bad for business: Logos is offering some of the same resources that QuickVerse is offering - why would they allow users to read these resources in a Logos product when they didn't get payed for?

The frustrating answer is no. There are really two primary factors:
- Publishers of copyrighted materials require you to pay for them (yes, even though you already have)
- It is not in the interest of Logos, or any of the bible software packages, to invest their time and money in it given #1... particularly because the place they make their money is not from the sale of the "software", but instead from the sale of resources. Likely especially the ones you already have [:S]
This has been true of any format you have, audiobooks don't give you access to paperback, kindle doesn't give you access to nook, and so on. It is in the publishers best interest to churn formats to keep you re-purchasing the same books.
But don't be all that upset... publishers are truly struggling to stay afloat. The only thing that will change this around is if and when publishers are taken out of the loop and direct access to authors (and their ability to manage that access from readers with absolute ease) is in place. Check out Seth Godin if you're interested in the possible future of the publishing industry.

Looked on Quick Verse web site for legal agreement, but found none. Hence, do not know if publisher agreements with Quick Verse allow for resource copying and use outside of Quick Verse application (suspect not). Also found some articles comparing Quick Verse and Logos that noted most (if not all) Quick Verse books are available for purchase from Logos.com (plus Logos has thousands more).
Keep Smiling [:)]

The quick answer is NO. You must pay twice or have both software programs open and do the reference look up and ‘links’ yourself (just like we all did when they were paper)
Have been in contact with two of the publishers whose products are licensed to more then one Bible software company. Their stand is that if you switch brands [or own more than one] then to get a copy of their product that runs on Brand X you need to contact Brand X even though you all ready have that product in Brand Z. [I.e. pay each Brand] Brand X and Brand Z tell us that it is the publishers of the product that control. But the publishers tell us that that is the way the contracts are written up. And that may also be one problem with Logos 4 PBB – copyright of materials on the Cloud. [as in if a customer puts a copyright protected resource into PBB and it gets on to the servers owned by Logos (and maybe worked on I.E. compiled) is Logos liable?]

WordSearch 9 imports lots of Quickverse STEP format so books into its program. Most are free, but some do require a small fee.

Aside from all the licensing & copyright issues consider that the functionality in Logos is so much broader & deeper than QuickVerse that to just import the texts for readability wuld introduce a bunch of "second class" resources into Logos. The tagging necessary to bring the resources up to par with the rest of our Logos library makes for labor intensive (costly) re-working.
When Zondervan finally agreed to publish their books in Logos format it took many months of work and was still costly to obtain. (I'm very happy they did.) Someday I hope to see many new works published in Logos that are currently "exclusive" to other Bible software publishers.,

If you simply want to read books in STEP format that you already have, E-Sword also has a module to read STEP format.

Sorry, I wanted to delete my screenshot, because I have thought ,that it could be against the Forum's guidelines, but I could not. I regret for doing that.

You should be able to delete entire the message, if you do it soon. Just click on the "More" button, and instead of choosing "Edit" choose "Delete." Then if you wish, you could just copy/paste what you wanted to keep into a new message.
(BTW, this thread is quite old.)
