iPhone Logos is online!

I have only Public Domain books - and have reinstalled the app without getting access to the books in my PC library.
Is there something special that need to be done to get access to the books on my library?

Same here. I don't see 1/20th of my library to be exact. Due to the fact that I only purchased individual volumes and the Anchor Commentary set directly from the Logos website, maybe that has something to do with it? Even so Anchor isn't showing up. When I go to my online account on the website, it doesn't show that I have Gold even though I do. Hmm..

I'm in the same boat as you. I purchased my WBC over the phone it doesn't show up in my online account. I've pinged Logos support... we'll see what they respond with tomorrow... hoping it's something simple on their side. I'm too excited to take no for an answer [:D]

In some cases we don't yet have permission from the publisher to offer the book for mobile access. (We're working on this, and adding books almost daily.)
But the bigger issue is that you don't have access to the "use my library" feature; stay tuned for more news very soon.... :-)

Well I think that some of us are confused since there are a few that have mentioned they have access to quite a few more books than others. For instance, some have access to their WBC while others like myself do not. For me its more of a confusion, not so much a problem.

That's exactly it. Just want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.. you know
If someone from Logos can just clarify what we should expect in the way of additional books I'd be happy... even if it's nothing more that what I see now I'm still happy for now!

How do I access this 'use my library' feature. It would seem the iPhone app is useless without it.
Why can some people access their library books and others not? I have over 400 resources but can not access any of them! Strange.

In the App description it says, "Users of the desktop version of Logos Bible Software 4 get access to much of their Library* through this mobile application."
I'm running Logos 3.0f on my desktop and only have access to the generic 50 books library in the iPhone. I wonder if those who have access to almost their entire library in the iPhone would be either users of Logos 4, or have been Beta testers of Logos 4?

I don't know if this will bring more money for you, but when offline access is available (download my resources to the device) I will most likely go to the store and get an iTouch (with plenty of memory). Logos is the only reason I would even consider getting another small device. And I would be glad to do it.
The main thing would be the ability to read them at any time (not limited to wifi hotspot). Some kind of search (offline) would be the next most valuable thing but anything after that would be icing on the cake.
Please let us know when offline access is possible.
Thank you for what you have done.

Synchronization is a feature of Logos 4; if you haven't yet upgraded to Logos 4 you'll only get a small selection of books on the iPhone. Logos 4 enables many more of your books to be synced to the iPhone app. (And we're enabling more each day as we secure permission from publishers.)

Bob, I just boasted yesterday on that forum that I see most of my Library on my iPhone. I was able to see WBC commentaries and most other books. Today it changed and I can see just few books and most of the books I was able to open yesterday say today "You do not have permission to open that book". What happened? I am excited about the iPhone app. and even more from the Logos 4 finally being up and running. It was really great time to Beta test the program. I hope my iPhone will work properly.

Bob, how are you suppose to use the iPhone synchronization with 4.0? Is there an option on the desktop version?

Once you've purchased Logos 4, your licenses will automatically work with the iPhone version.

Most likely, you started playing with it while we were editing the permissions database. We're now respecting the licenses we do/don't have, and I'm pretty sure we don't have permission to offer WBC through the iPhone yet. We're working to secure rights to everything, though, and hoping all the publishers will want to go along.

OK, thank you for your answer. I suspected that might be the case. Well, we will wait to see more books allowed. It works really great. I tried many things, I like the info about the Biblical words in Greek, Hebrew and many other things. I have to say I tried may be all of the Bible programs for iPhone. Non can compare with Logos. That is no question about. Syncing with the computer, that is just fantastic. Thank you Bob for making it possible. God bless you.

Is there a list of the ones that you do have or don't have whichever is easier to list? I am getting the same error, but don't know how to troubleshoot it unless I can see the list. If it is the first problem (playing while editing permisions) how do we fix this? I've already signed out and back in again.

We don't have a list available yet; we'll have some way of indicating iPhone compatibility in the future. (Probably an indicator on the book's page -- a list with thousands of resources could be difficult to read.)
What book are you having trouble with?

I don't know about Kevin, but I started to read 4 volumes of Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus of Michael Brown. I have a Reading Plan for the 3rd volume and yesterday it worked fine. Today it gives me message that book is not permitted.

MacAurthur's The Glory of Heaven, I think. I have set up a reading plan for it and it shows only the list of dates when I open it and when I open the app it give the error.
Just tested it again and I cannnot open any books. I get error saying I don't have permission. Please sir may I open my books? <g>
Another update: I just deleted the app and reinstalled it from app store and it is functioning better. I don't get the error, but I still cannot read the book.

That would be an example of a book we don't have permission to offer over the iPhone yet. (Almost all of the MacArthur books would be in this category.) We're working on securing the rights.

Hope you get them. I was reading through a book I was hoping would be on there too. Is there anything we as users can do to express our interest to the necessary parties?

This is why a list of such books might be helpful. That way I could prioritize when I choose a new book to read. I would be more likely when picking between two books to choose one available for my iphone.

Not yet. We're just mailing off contract addendums to hundreds of rights holders, and following up by phone, etc. We don't yet know who's going to agree readily and who we'll need to persuade. :-)

I can't believe how many irons your team have in the fire and doing an outstanding job at each. To tackle all these kinds of issues with the IPhone app while launching L4 and the other things I know of that you are tackling too...it amazes me. Outstanding job.

I updated to L4 but still do not have access to a 'use my library' feature. Is there something else to be done? Or are we dealing with a bug of some sort.
The iPhone search function shows two Collections I created [so the app appears to have connected to L4 on the DTop] but phone doesn't seem to search those Collections.
With hundreds of books going back 12-15 years, it seems a stretch it to think you lack permissions for all of them. Perhaps you do! But it would be nice to know more about the 'use my library' feature!
It would also be nice to be able to tell if the basic app install is 'good'.

Bob,
Do I have to purchase an upgrade to 4.0 in order for my books to work on the iPhone app or is it just by doing the free update? If it's accessible via the free update then I am still running into issues with my books not being available.0 -

Ditto for me. I've upgraded to 4.0, its syncing properly (i.e. I'm seeing Favorites I created on Windows with 4.0 showing up on my iPod). However, as best as I can tell, none of my books are showing up in my library.
I've never purchased a package, but I've added to my collection via individual items over the years and lots of purchases from other partners (some of these aren't 3.0 resources AFAIK). Does that make a difference?

The iPhone synchronization is a feature of the Logos 4 products; if you purchase the minimum crossgrade package (http://www.logos.com/minimalcrossgrade) you'll get the resources that make Logos 4 shine (people, places, things, controlled vocabulary, etc.) as well as the ability to read many (as permissions allow) of your resources on the iPhone.
Sorry for the confusion!

So when is free not free - when you have to purchase another product to make the free product useful.
Bob, thanks for the clarification.

If I am correct the information always was from the beginning that engine is free. You can get v4 engine and use it. However it looks pretty fair to me that if you want to get a new stuff and functions, you have to get a minimal package. It was the same with let's say PBB Book Reader and v3. It worked only with the Base Packages. You could have a library of thousands$ resources but you would miss that tool. Looks simple and fair to me. iPhone application also is free, however it is logical you need to have a Logos 4 iPhone enabled functionality to get your library to your iPhone. Otherwise you can enjoy a basic set of resources. That is how I understand that.

Thanks for the update Bob. That explains why the books haven't shown up on my iPhone.
I do have some follow up questions. I've noticed that those who've previously purchased packages are raving at the upgrade discount. However, I've never purchased a base package and I'm only seeing upgrade options for four packages.
- Is this correct? Should I only have the upgrade discount for four packages? The Bible Study package is the package I'm interested in, but I have no discount option for that package.
- For the four packages that do offer me a discount, the discount percentage is nice, but it's not as dramatic as what others have indicated. Is this because I've only purchased things piecemeal and thus don't get the mega discount?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining, I just want to understand my options, any maybe get a [slightly bigger] discount on the Bible Study package.

Well, the parts that are free are free: the code (we spent millions to write Logos 4), the iPhone app (surprisingly expensive to build), and quite a bit of content (more than 25 books at no charge on the iPhone if you use a Logos.com account, whether you bought Logos 4 or not).
I think that's enough to count as "useful".... we need to keep something to sell in order to pay the bills! :-)
