BUG ? display problem

In Gensenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament @ סֻכּוֹת (“booths”), [Succoth] -- page 585 it includes these words: "of a town in the tribe of Gad." But on my screen "a town" looks like "atown". I have justification turned off and I am using the default font (see below). I reported a typo and noticed it was two words. I am logging this here in case it is linked to text justification.

On mine the "a" and "town" are close and there appears to be a small space in between, but I wasn't sure so I copied the phrase and pasted it into Notepad. There I found there is indeed a space that Notepad shows in its display (using a different font). You may want to try that trick to convince yourself it's not a typo. FYI, also I am not on the beta yet, so this is not a newly introduced "problem", if it is a problem at all and not a display driver anomaly or something.

You can see similar spacing issues between "Gad," and "Josh.", and also between "see" and "Gen.", which also correct themselves when justification is turned on.

You can see similar spacing issues between "Gad," and "Josh.", and also between "see" and "Gen.", which also correct themselves when justification is turned on.

I don't see any change in Windows when Justification is turned off, and just a slight change in Mac, with words getting slightly closer, but not run together. If I change it to 3-column display and 'a town' is split between two lines, the break is correct. The others you mention above look fine on both systems, too. I've tested this with a lot of different scenarios--change in font, text size, scaling, paged view and number of columns, non-paged view, reading view, and resized panel. That said, I do have a newer build installed, so maybe that's the difference. Perhaps when Beta 3 is released, this will improve for you, too.

This is a comparison of justification off vs. on here, using windows 7 home premium x64. Note also a second problem in the same section ("see Gen.") -- it is scrunched together just like "a town". [EDIT] I am finding the same problems if I switch font to Georgia.

I just checked this on another Windows 7 computer and it does look more like yours and does change when Justification is disabled. The only difference between the two systems is the video card. They both have the same Logos 4 build installed, are set to Default Font at 100% text size, and have the same screen resolution of 1280 X 1024. The system that looks fine and doesn't change has an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT adapter and the one that looks like yours has an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. What adapter is on your Windows 7 system?

When I go to device manager, here is what it says for my display adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 series express chipset family. Is that what you want? Can you point me elsewhere to investigate further?

4.2a SR-3 on my notebook shows the same "atown" but the following "a station" is rendered correctly - as are the other 405 instances of "a town" (and the other 14563 instances with "a " in the resource!).

We will look at the text in this book to see if there is something we can adjust to avoid this problem with some displays.
