Highlighting - A Request to be Considered
Assuming Dave Dunkin and his mobile team are (or will be) working on highlighting on the iOS app now or soon, I have a request for your consideration:
In other reading (eBook) apps like Kindle for iOS, to highlight something you have to follow these steps:
1) press-hold on a word to have it selected;
2) drag one of the tiny blue round "handles" to expand the selection;
3) select the Highlight option.
I personally find this very tedious and inefficient, especially step 2 (dragging the little blue round handle). I would like to propose that the Logos app follow a more natural and intuitive way of highlighting:
1) press a button on the screen to go into "Highlighting mode";
2) use your finger to highlight text, much the same way you would use a physical yellow highlighter;
3) press the Highlight button again to turn off "Highlighting mode".
Dave/Logos - Is this feasible? Is this against Apple's UI standards?
Other users - Is this preferable to the Kindle app's way of highlighting? What's your thoughts?
Thanks for considering.

Peter,
I don't have an ipad so it's a little unfair for me to add my thoughts... but that never stopped me.
I agree that your description of using an on/off mode for highlighting and just dragging your finger would be an excellent way, and a more natural way of doing things.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Highlighting is coming. Dave has posted about this on the forum. All we have to do is be patient.

Right, but this is a suggestion on how to implement the coming feature.

Thomas,
I understand that this was a suggestion.
From the reading of the forums over the past year, whenever highlighting is released, as with every release whether it be the IOS side, PC or Mac side, some will be happy about it and say so, and others will wish it was some other way and will say so.
The way I look at each release is to rejoice, because Logos has helped me in my study and made it more time efficient. I remember the good ole days of visiting the card catalogue, then searching the catacombs in the seminary library, sometimes finding that the book I was after had been checked out, and at other times rejoicing that I could carry it back to my table to take notes with pen and paper.

Please stop WITH THE be patient!
It has nothing to do with patience.
The OP was giving some thoughts on how to accomplish the HIGHLIGHTING proceedure.

I Agree. Please share ideas they are the only way that we can move forward. I also understand that there are those who have different opinions and that is okay too. Please understand that this is only a forum for us to share ideas and not to tell others how to do their business. So lets have fun and bring in all the new ideas. Don't be offended if i steal your idea........lol okay i will give you the credit if no one knows you!

Thanks Dave! I think this is a great idea for the highlighting concept for the iPad.

Reviving this thread... iBooks 2 has just implemented finger highlighting as described above. I hope this will make it into the new, upcoming Logos app v2.

Logos 4.5 was released, highlighting and notes coming this week!
They've actually said it in the app store just waiting for 4.5 so I'm guessing we will get the iOS update in the next 24 hours.
