So I have installed 4.0 but the resources have no synced. I have logged in but still nothing in my library. What am I doing wrong?
ZPD,
Are you connected to the internet?
Are you signed into your Logos account?
It should download automatically within 10 to 20 minutes, or faster.
You could put the following into the command line:
update now
and then push the button and wait....that will force it to update.
It says synchronization is enabled and all items are updated. There are still no items in my library.
have you done a search? I know that sounds weird....
can you give a screen shot of your library?
do you get anything on the home page? What you see there should be (in part) based on your library
if you have a blue logos item near you clock, it is likely still downloading them
some users have reported taht it takes up to 30 minutes to START to download; probably due to the volume today..
That message is not complete. Synchronization is about at least two things First, your desktop and laptop, or your work computer and home computer syncing some settings and layouts you may have saved. That part of the sync is complete. In the second part of the sync, your library is compared with your licenses. Logos4 may have finished downloading the information, but it may still be comparing your folder with what you're authorized to have. That can take a while, especially if you have a large number of licenses, and today, when so many people are trying to access the Logos servers at the same time.
Today is a good day to work on that 4th fruit of the Spirit. [;)]
In other words, install the program, tell it to syn/update, and wait? What if there is no icon on the status bar? Is it still working and updating? How can we be sure what's going on?
How long did it take for you to sync yours?
Mine is saying it's getting 7.1GB of data. I have a daily data cap on my service and will be cut back to dial up speeds for 24 hours if I exceed that.
This doesn't seem the best way for me to go.
Any suggestions?
upgrade your cap for the day. If that is not an option, buy the DVD and wait for it to ship. Or, I guess, you could suffer the wrath of your service provider [6]
Good luck and enjoy Logos 4!
Unfortunately the initial install does take a bit of hurry up and wait. The notifications are clearer and prettier than they were for the early Betas some of us used, but there is a LOT of work being done behind the scenes to make Logos 4 work. You shouldn't have to tell it to sync. From what I am hearing on these forums, it sounds like the installation process is going slower than it did for us Beta users, but then again there are many more of you and many more resources to DL than when we did our initial install.
Logos 4 is designed to update itself automagically, so assuming you are 1) Connected to the Internet and 2) Logged in to Logos 4 with your logos.com password, I would probably type "update now" in the command bar and then just leave Logos 4 running in the background and do other things. "Soon" you should see a blue Logos icon on your Windows Taskbar that says it is DL Gigabytes of updates. Let it do this.
When it is done, it should ask you about installing the update, which will close down Logos 4 and restart Logos 4. After it prepares your library, you will be able to see all the books you have and even look through them as Logos prepares its master index. Building this master index can take hours, but don't get scared the initial time estimates say over a hundred hours. It shouldn't take this long, but some books, especially the fancy reverse interlinears, take much longer to index than others, and so if it starts with some long ones, it will base the estimate on those.
I know it feels like Christmas Morning and you want to see what all the big fuss is about NOW, but unfortunately setting up this fancy of a customized database takes a fair amount of time.
Looks as if I've already passed it. Will have to call and get DVD.
Mine Just started to download resources ( I bought the DVD and downloaded the small install program) 2% of 9 GB. We gonna be here a while[:D]

This was a problem for beta testers from OZ and SA too. Not sure where you're from, but there aren't many workarounds at the moment. One is to order a DVD, instead of downloading. It will obviously take a lot longer, and there will still be downloads after you get it, but probably not as much. There's a high likelihood that much more will be coming down the pike as more and more LDSLXX resources are released as Logos4 resources. So expect more bandwidth challenges for the next few months (probably heaviest through the end of the year, and then maybe tapering off a bit).
In some places, the caps are much lighter at night than in the day time. Another strategy is to increase your data cap for a while (if that's an option with your provider), costs more/month, but may actually save you more in the end.
For those of us in the U.S., it's hard to imagine data caps. We haven't had them since before dial-up services all but disappeared (still the only option for some in some rural areas, though). But Logos is definitely going with a system more connected to the internet.

Yes, you will. After the downloading it will close the program and start indexing. You'll be able to browse your resources, but not do any searching until that is finished. It will take a LONG time - hours. Lots of us, in the beta process, stalled the indexing until overnight! But, once it is done, it will make things very quick and integrated. Plus, in the future you'll have automatic updates when you open the program -- it takes few minutes to check what needs updating -- if anything.

Rural MS. HughesNet satellite with 425M daily download limit.
DVD on the way.
Only a 10 minute hold on the phone, too. Was surprised.
NOT at all recommended, but last week when Logos was releasing most of the logos4 files for us beta testers, I stopped the DL by clicking on the icon in the Windows taskbar, and after I restarted Logos 4, the new files I had downloaded were inserted into my library. You should be able to turn the internet off at this point to avoid cap issues.
So, you can kinda force Logos to do bite size chunks, but you cannot pick which bites come first. With a 425M Daily limit, I would be quite tempted to take a Laptop to some public internet site (Cafe, Library, Taco Bell?) to get around it.

no kidding
