This was annoying. Glad to see progress on it!

History is available from the tab bar
Thanks for adding editable History to More settings. Also like scrolling history list with Book Covers (plus can tap blue arrows for historical locations within resource).
Keep Smiling [:)]

I updated this morning prior to my devotional reading. I've never had a problem with the app before but now some of the NLT is jumbled and the app crashes and closes every time I move from one section to another in my daily Bible reading.

Do you have the NLT downloaded for offline use? If so, I had an update for the NLT last night...you might check your homepage to see if you need to download an updated resource.

I do and I did.
You are right, it did require an update for the NLT, but all of these issues happened after I updated.
Now that I say that, I wonder if the problem was with the app update or the NLT update...

I don't see any problems with my NLT...is there a certain passage that is jumbled? Have you tried removing it from offline availability and then adding it back again (forcing it to re-download)? How about killing the Logos app in the multitasking bar and then rebooting the iPad? Those are all things I've done since the update, so if there was a problem that has since been fixed on mine, one of those suggestions would have been the fix. I don't know for sure if I had the problem or not though because I didn't look at the NLT until this morning when you posted.

Absolutely Awesome Dave. I use my iPhone4 every day multiple times and I've never spent more time in the Word. I love the new history features.
Thank you for your diligent work - and please pass on my appreciation to all involved.
Cheers, Brent

I too had an update to the NLT which I had downloaded and was using with the 1.7.0 app. The NLT updated fine and all appears good to me.

So that explains why one reading plan simply crashed Logos every time.
Now it works as expected.

Good suggestions. I tried all of that, again. I deleted and reloaded the NLT. I then even deleted the entire app, reloaded, and reinstalled all of the books...
Still, every time I hit the link to go from one part of today's reading (I use the M'Cheyne Reading Plan if that matters) to the next, the app crashes and closes.
Odd...

Dave,
I like the newest implementation of the history feature. Thanks!
Question - What's the difference between the initial (regular) History list and the "Full History" list?
Thanks,
Peter

Dave,
Great update!

What's the difference between the initial (regular) History list and the "Full History" list?
The history you get from touching and holding the back button is the history for that panel. The full history is for both panels.

Noel, if you can send the crash logs it will help us fix the problem. See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/28865.aspx. Thanks.

I have the same problem as Noel, but using NKJV. If disable the offline avail of the bible, it works fine, but if I make it avail offline, then when I click on the link for the next reading the app crashes.

Dave,
Any chance we get the recent book ribbon back? I like the history implementation but used that book history as a completely different route to my content. I can still kind of get there by going to [Tap Screen]->Library->Recent Books->Book but that is two extra taps and I also don't see the list in Recent Books kept in the same way as the book ribbon. I have books at the top in my recent books that I have not used for a good while. I do this action quite frequently so those taps add up. If the bar isn't coming back I will stop commenting on it but I really think that was a useful navigation element and miss it.
Thanks,
Robert

I've been experimenting with the crash when following the links from one part of a reading plan to another. I tried setting up different reading plans with several different Bibles, and it is consistent. Anytime the Bible in your reading plan is set to be available offline, then following the links from one part of today's reading to the next causes the app to crash. Removing that particular Bible's offline availability stops the crashing. This holds true even after deleting and re-installing the app on both an iPad 2 and an iPhone 3GS.
Please fix this as I really need my Bible to be available offline as several of the places I go to read have low to no signal strength.
Thanks.

Hi David,
For a point of reference, I've been using a reading plan with the ESV which is available offline since 1.7.1 was released without problems. Actually, I've been using the reading plan without problems for the last few releases that supported offline resources. So, your experience it inconsistent with mine. I recommend that you send the crash info. so the Logos dev. team can investigate. See the link below to another posting that has info. on how to resport App crashes.
See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/28865.aspx.

There is a known crasher when touching the links in reading plan markers. It won't happen every time, but is more likely to happen for downloaded resources. This will be fixed in the next release.

Dave, I appreciate you admitting problems and committing to tackling them.
Incidentally, my Logos App sometimes just closes itself. It did it with the previous release and still does it with the new one, which I've just downloaded this week. It doesn't worry me, as I just switch it on again and it picks up where it left off. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the Logos App, or with the iPad, or with my iPad, a refurbished one, on which \I've just discovered the mute button for the speaker doesn't work, so it may also have other problems. So this is information, and a request for information, rather than a problem that is worrying me. The failure in the previous version to open a book where you left it was a nusiance, tho not catastrophic. But you recognised that problem and fixed it very quickly. Keep up the good work! I'm enjoying my iPad and using it for hours each day.

When clicking on links in commentaries that lead or link to other commentaries the link does not take me to the commentary. It just spins and does not open. Has anyone experienced this? Links to bible verses work fine but links to other commentaries do not work.
Thank you

I've noticed the same thing a couple times. When it has happened to me, I've been reading in "full screen" mode in the iPad. I figured out that the other resource was being opened in the hidden part of the split pane. Dragging the split "thumb" toward the center revealed the other resource.
I do think that the software should handle this case differently. If only one pane is showing, everything should happen in that pane.

Bump. Any comment? I used this again pretty heavily on Sunday and my conclusion is the same. Would really like the ribbon back. If it isn't going to happen I will stop going on about it.

I concur. I found the old way much quicker and easier to switch between books. However, I am very glad we can search while offline, since I don't have 3G on my iPad!Pastor, seminary trustee, and app developer. Check out my latest app for churches: The Church App

Agreed. Overall the changes to the App are making it a very useful part of my study and worship. Offline and split views took this app to the next level.

The recent books ribbon will not be coming back. We are looking into ways to make switching between resources more efficient.

Thanks. I will look forward to the development. The History itself is not very useful for this purpose in my case (I actually have a hard time triggering it sometimes) although it is very useful in following a sermon that is jumping around a lot. Is it possible to make a quick jump to the recent books section of the library (maybe from the same menubar area the history link is?) and to ensure that the list is ordered by last use? That would do wonders for me if it worked the way I am thinking.

I do have a question on the Rotation Lock. It seems I can only get it to lock in the Portrait mode but not the Landscape. I can get it to flip to Landscape but when I select the Settings tab that is always in the Portrait and that is where it locks the screen. Is it just me? (my wife would say yes) Thanks for any help,
Don Fisher
