Preparing your library...

Forgive me if this has already been asked.

I exited Logos 4 after the indexer started downloading/indexing files... I went to log back in and now I get the "Preparing your library" dialog and it sits there... I think it's been close to an hour now.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way for me to know if it's actually doing anything?

It is downloading... I was able to launch the program earlier this morning while it was downloading... do you think I have to wait for it to finish downloading before I login again?

No. Go ahead and run Logos. Of course your new resources won't be available until the download is finished. But things may work a little slower while the download is working. After the download is finished, integrating the new resources into L4 will require shutting it down. It will probably restart almost immediately. The second instance of indexing shouldn't take as long as the first, though the new index won't be 'Merged' with the old one until you tell it to, or it reaches a predetermined percent (I'm not sure this "hot point" has been announced yet).

EDIT: If it's only downloading, and it has finished indexing at least once, you should be able to run Logos4 while a subsequent download is running. If this is still your first download, I don't think you can run the program yet. And yes, indexing can take a very long time. For very large libraries, a few hours is possible (though it's much faster now, than it was in the beginning of the Beta testing period).

Andrew, try cancelling Logos (not the Logos Indexer) in program manager and restarting. I've closed and re-opened L4 while downloading and while indexing. Functionality is limited while indexing in searches until the first indexing is complete. I think something got hung. If that doesn't work then you've either got a bug or a problem.

Do not cancel the indexing. You can use v4 while it updates the index, BUT resources are not searched and some features within v4 will not work until the indexing is complete. Using it wont hinder the indexing, but if you cancel indexing, it will not be able to finish.

Logos crashed a couple of times today and each time when I relaunched I got the 'preparing your library' message. Hovering over the icon you mention indicates I'm at stage x of 3. Fortunately I was not on a deadline and could do other things. But it is frustrating. Is there anything I could do differently to prevent this?
