this site does not work : ftp://ftp.logos.com/
Usually, I type in ftp.logos.com and it goes to the ftp site. This time it changed the address to
ftp://ftp.logos.com and that does not work. You're right!
EDIT: I tried the Libronix Resource Auto Update script and it will not download any updated book files.
Peace! and
Joy in the Lord!
I just tried ftp://ftp.logos.com/
................. and it works for me......
maybe it's the "bold" font??? try: ftp://ftp.logos.com
It's not working for me either. I get a timeout. I tried with Firefox, WinSCP, and Windows' command-line ftp.
that works also.... for me, at least ............ftp://ftp.logos.com
I'm seeing multiple routing problems to ftp.logos.com, which are outside of Logos' control. The fact that Milford is having no problems also suggests its a routing issue. I suspect therefore that it will clear up shortly once the internet sorts itself out.
Can you access it, Mark?
Not currently.
This is the reason for the FTP issues:

At 5:08 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time..
I can still access ... ftp://ftp.logos.com ....
I am using High-Speed Cable from Eastern Canada.
I'm sure Mark is correct on both counts 1. the routing issue 2. Amazon shut-down
Romans 13:11
11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Mark,
Could you explain how you arrive at that kind of definitive conclusion...? I am not a geek and read the article but I don't find a link to that and Logos ftp site. Please enlighten me, if you will. Thanks!
Follow up on some of the background internet traffic from Logos and it's using the Amazon S3 cloud for various "things - including resource transfer. (And hence the FTP server is likely a part of that).
Mark's got a good eye for that sort of thing.
.....a quick answer as your sound "curious." *smile*
Mark can give you a better reply, Joan!
However, until he does, let me say that I think I remember (!!! *smile*) that Logos "rent's various of Amazon's electronic (or whatever I should call it) platforms.
Usually it gives more power to L4 "in the cloud" usage!
Perhaps someone else can be more precise.
Peace!

Roger that, Captain Thomas. [*]
Thomas is almost right - except its EC2 not S3 that's causing the problem currently. To be more specific, the IP address of ftp.logos.com is 174.129.231.90. If you do a reverse DNS lookup of this IP, you get the 'real' address, which is ec2-174-129-231-90.compute-1.amazonaws.com
ftp.logos.com
174.129.231.90
ec2-174-129-231-90.compute-1.amazonaws.com
The ec2 at the beginning of the address tells us the server is part of Amazon's EC2 (Elastic Computing) cloud, which is what the BBC article refers to. EC2 allows software companies to install their own software on Amazon servers, so is a bit more complex than Amazon's S3, which is just a simple storage. As far as I know, Logos only uses EC2 for ftp.logos.com because S3 on its own doesn't support the FTP protocol. The files themselves will actually be hosted on the S3 cloud, but we access them through EC2. (Logos 4 uses the http protocol for downloading files, rather than FTP, which is why only Logos 3 is affected.)
ec2
There are several EC2 locations. Logos appear to be using the two North American ones, North Virginia and North California. It's the North Virginia one that's causing the currently problems, and I presume providence has directed Milford to North California. The problem is still ongoing, status updates are here.
Thomas is almost right
*And only wife!
Please help me, I'm from Egypt, i cannot enter it, what's the solution NOW on steps ?
i cannot enter it, what's the solution NOW on steps ?
Molka, the ftp site is still down. We'll have to be patient.
I'm guessing that the steps are
I just downloaded a plethora of files from there just the other day when I was setting up my new computer. I'm sure there are still more to be downloaded, but it will need to ... WAIT.
