Logos loads at startup, how to disable

I have an iMac with the latest Snow Leopard and Logos Bible Software 4.2a SR-5 (4.21.5.0959).

When I reboot, I notice that a Logos icon appears in my menu bar, halts my bootup process for a while then disappears.

I want to remove this "feature". There doesn't appear to be an option to handle this behavior in Logos / Preferences. And, in the iMac's "System Preferences / Accounts / Login Items" there is nothing that relates to Logos.

Since "login items" is where one expects to find startup items, and Logos doesn't show up there, I get the feeling that Logos has 'clamped' into my system!

Where do I go and which file or setting must I trash or adjust to prevent Logos from starting up with my computer.

Actually Logos isn't starting up - it is checking for updates!

Changing 'Automatically download updates to 'No' should solve your the matter that you are concerned about.

You can override the setting by typing 'Update Now' in the command bar.

If you go this route we will wait with anticipation your email asking why Logos hasn't (automatically) downloaded the latest version. :-)

Thanks for your input Mike, but the problem remains.

As I understand it, Logos checks for updates when I start Logos, and this is okay with me, though I normally prefer to update software manually rather than giving permissions through my firewall. But what I am experiencing is different. When I reboot my mac, at the top right of the screen in the menu bar, next to the clock, speaker, and bluetooth icons, a Logos icon will appear here for roughly 10 seconds, then disappear. If I hover my mouse over this icon, I get a rainbow wheel (busy icon).

So some part of logos is running at boot time, and I find this unnecessary. It's always been my personal computing style to prevent apps from running at boot - I don't like waiting to use my computer, and if every app did the same, then it would be quite a while before I could do anythhing!

So, how do I find an option to turn this off? A plist somewhere? Again, there isn't a logos option in the Login Items of Account System Preferences.

Do you know perchance what the consequences of going this route will be for the long term use of L4.

For example what will you have to do if you want to sync resources etc?

Will updates still take place when you launch Logos or will you you need to take some action manually?

Disabling automatic launch at login delays library preparation until Logos 4 Mac is launched, which starts Indexer as needed. Personally prefer for Indexer to complete before extensively using Logos 4 Mac.

On an iMac with 2 Logos users (different Libraries), have experienced many login error messages about indexer last used by different user. Decided to add Logos 4 Mac Indexer Automatic Launch section after couple recent forum requests along with lack of adverse effects when Indexer launch at login did nothing; personally needed to launch Logos 4 Mac so Indexer could run as current user to do stuff (resource downloads, indexing, etc).
