Bug / Performance: Not responding to a lookup in COED
I've had this problem in several versions and it usually occurs when opening COED for the first time in a session:-
- open COED (it opens to last word found - arbitrary in this case)
- type word (grammar in this case)
The log may not be useful (look for COED) as the lookup may have been interrupted by taking the screen shot and it reverted to arbitrary. The delay (black box) can take several seconds. I'll provide an uninterrupted log next time it occurs.

I'm not able to reproduce the problem. Do you see this behavior on both your desktop and laptop systems?

It happens infrequently but it has occurred on my old laptop (Win XP), new laptop and desktop.

It may be difficult to determine due to its infrequency, however, I wonder whether the problem would reoccur when working offline without synching.
In the past when we've had reports of the program not responding with a black box on the screen, the problem has been resolved with a newer video card. Since you say it has occurred on all your different machines, though, that may not be the case here.
