Search problem in Afrikaans Bybel 83 (Afr83) and Die Bybel, Nuwe Lewende Vertaling

When I search for a word in Bible search, that word is not shown when it is in the beginning of a verse; for example, when I search for "Moses" in Die Bybel, Nuwe vertaling and Die Bybel, Nuwe Lewende Vertaling, it doesn't show Exodus 7:6 as a result. In all the instances where "Moses" is not the first word in the verse, those verses are shown. How can I solve my problem? Please help

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

I don't have any Bibles in Africaans, so I can't check this theory, but since no one else has answered so far, I'll give it a shot. The idea that comes to my mind is that the verse number may have been accidentally hard-linked to the word (i e Logos believes that the verse number is part of the word). I've never come across this with a number before the word before, but I've seen it plenty of times with a number after the word.

To test this theory, search for 6Moses, and see if Ex 7:6 turns up.

I don't know what is happening with your Logos but I just ran a search om both my Afrikaans Bibles, The Ou Vertaling and the Afrikaans Nuwe Vertaling and the search seems to be working correctly. Both of them gave me Ex 7:6 as a result. It may be worth while to give Logos support a shout and hear what they have to say. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Apologies, not have Afrikaans Bible versions to search. Idea: could do a Bible Search for Moses then post a screenshot showing Exodus 7:6

For example, Exodus 24:2 does not start with Moses in GNB while other English Bibles do. For screen capture, mouse hovered over GNB's outline box in grid view for pop-up verse text:

Personally choose to search my "English Bibles" collection instead of "All Bibles" to avoid showing many Qumran Dead Sea Scroll fragment results.

The Afrikaans translations without Strongs (afr33.lbxlls; LLS:1.0.631 and afrikaan.lbxlls; LLS:1.0.630) have no problems with search.

The Afrikaans Ou Vertaling with Strongs (sa_ovson.lbxll; LLS:1.0.5013) also have no problems with search.

The two resources that have problems with search are:

1. Afrikaans Nuwe Vertaling with Strongs (sa_nvson.lbxlls; LSS:1.0.5012) and

2. Nuwe Lewende Vertaling (NLV.lbxlls; LLS:NLV)

The search problem is that a word is not shown when it is in the beginning of a verse; for example, when I search for "Moses" it doesn't show Exodus 7:6 as a result. In all the instances where "Moses" is not the first word in the verse, those verses are shown.

It seems that any word next to a verse number (except verse no. 1) can't be found in the search function in the two mentioned resources.

I saw that you have requested an update to the resources. Please specify The two resources that have problems with search:

1. Afrikaans Nuwe Vertaling with Strongs (sa_nvson.lbxlls; LSS:1.0.5012) and

2. Nuwe Lewende Vertaling (NLV.lbxlls; LLS:NLV)
