Another search question

I did finally figure out the answer to the previous question: It was a very easy graphical query. I'm almost embarrassed it was so easy.

I would like to generate a report of all the Greek words in 3John and the frequency with which they occur within 3John. I would then like to compare those occurring only once with their usage elsewhere in the NT.

How would I do that?

I THINK that you can do a morph search for: @N, @V, @P...etc...and then put the results in analysis view and sort them by lemma, then export to excel..."

I'm not skilled enough to figure out how to put it into excel in a way that makes sense...but this is what you get from the analysis view of the following search:

Terry, this is Vocabulary/Word List territory.

I tried but I think that IE9 on my machine is preventing those features from working in LIbronix.... bummer

Kevin and Robert- thanks for trying. I did get most of the search I was looking for using Robert's idea of morph search. I'm guessing there's an extra step or two and I could get the exact search I am looking for? Hmm.

Also, I noticed Robert's view was from L4 and I'm using L3 for this search. I CAN use L4 if needed but I'm so used to L3 I use it nearly exclusively.

Can create New Vocabulary List document: Thankful fix for Internet Explorer 9 works in Windows 7.

Can right click on vocabulary word, execute key link, right click, choose Bible Word Study, can click on entry in passage to see reference and context:

Another vocabulary option is right click on word, copy selected text, switch to Logos 4, paste into Bible Word Study (BWS). For screen capture, pasted into couple BWS guides (on left clicked BWS ring to show verses):

Create a Vocabulary List of words from 3 John ==> the lemma frequency appears as (x)
Delete words occurring more than 1 x.
Select and copy the remaining words
Create a Word List and then choose Add | Words and paste the words from the Vocab List
Delete the English words!
Create a Graphical Query with a single Term that uses the Word List (type lemma into the Fields: box)
Search your Greek bible

There are about 326 words found only once in 2Tim and probably not more than 25 used exclusively here.

I followed your instructions (I think) and got 12,506 returns! So, where'd I go wrong?

Hi Terry, If you have vocab lists in your Libronix 3 Library you can do a vocab list for the entire book. It then generates a reoprt with every word and the number of times that occurs in the passage in brackets.

You didn't! 2 Tim has a list of 1x words that are commonly used elsewhere eg. ἀδελφός occurs 342 x elsewhere in NA27 (the manuscript ἀδελφοὶ occurs 144 times elsewhere).

BTW using NA27 I got 307 lemmas unique to 2 Tim & 11408 returns.

But that wasn't your original Q! The answer to this Q lies with Exegetical Guide and the Word by Word section; where you Filter out words whose lemmas occur more than 1 Times. There are 12 words unique to 2 Tim.

Terry, if the Vocab list was working on my Libronix installation I would make to vocabulary lists, One for 2 Timothy and one for everything but 2 Timothy. Then I would subtract the everything but from the 2 Timothy list. If my copy of Libronix was working right in this regard I would figure out how to do it and post directions.

Or you could use the Exegetical guide's word by word section and tell it to filter out the words that occur more than once. You may have to put 2 in the settings for it to work properly, I don't remember.

I thought I was asking about words occuring only in 3John but I worded it poorly. The same basic question in both was how do I do a search to determine words that occur only in 2Tim or 3John or Galatians or....? How did you determine there are 12 words unique to 2Tim?

Both my link and Dave's suggestion with the Exegetical Guide will give you your 12 words. Dave's is quicker and also works on L4, mine (which is actually also Dave's from another thread!) is more accurate.

There is more than 12 words (which I counted!) in EG as you have to press More to get words from other chapters!

Yes, so the Vocab/Word List filter would be more accurate.
