Text Sharpness on Ipad 2

Hello,

I am considering buying an Ipad 2 but went to the Appel store and was underwhelmed by the screen resolution in iBooks. It seemed blurry. Whatever the size of the font, font type, it was always a little fuzzy. I could not try any other reading apps like the kindle apps, etc.

I was wondering: how does logos look on an Ipad 2? Can you read for an hour or two without having a headache?

It's funny because I am using a laptop right now and even though the DPI is lower than the Ipad, the text is sharper... I don't quite get it!

I almost hesitate to respond because I'm so unsure of what you mean. I broke down and bought the iPad, and did so reluctantly as a hardcore apple avoider. But I am also a big logos fan. After waiting for a year and a half for an android app, I bought the iPad 2 and honestly, it is amazing. Logos works well on it (NOT as good as a laptop, but serviceable for this use). I see NO problem with screen resolution, and read on it for hours each day. the ipad2 made me a believer. I can study on logos wherever I am and have all my books stored locally. I bought a 64 gig without 3G.
I also have a kindle 2 and while it is good for some things as well, the iPad is far more versatile.
I would not be afraid of it personally.

I am able to read on the ipad for hours without a problem. Sometimes I have to drop the brightness. I have found that I have been reading a lot more since I got an ipad. Thankful for Logos...looking forward to when I can take notes and highlight on the app as well.

Ditto here. I find the font very sharp and readable on the Logos app -- English and Chinese.

Everyone's eyes are different. I am blind in my right eye, and am near sighted in my left. However, my iPad 1 is very adequate for me to use for reading.

The screen for iPad 1 and iPad 2 are the same - no upgrade in resolution. That is why I will wait for iPad 3 to upgrade. But I am still perfectly happy with my iPad for reading.

That does not mean your complaint is not valid. It is good that you tried it first and found it inadequate for you.

I'm resurrecting this thread because my son-in-law and I went to an Apple store today and had the same experience as Marc-Andre. The fonts of books in iBooks were fuzzy, not sharp at all, especially if one is used to a Kindle. The fonts of the iPod Touch and iPhone, both version 4 I think, were great with the retina display. Had the iPad had the same retina resolution, I may very well have walked out with one. Rumor has it that the iPad 3 will have the improved resolution. We can hope.
