I'm finally learning the value of adding my own tags to my Logos resources. I am looking for some ideas as to how to tag my resources. So, what tags do you use? Thank you and Lord bless!
I use abbreviations, such as DICT for my dictionaries, COUN for my counselling books, etc. Also, I learned on this forum, when I read a book I date it as read such as READ: 2011-05-03.
I tagged commentaries exegetical, language, application, and critical. Early Church Fathers. Doctrinal books as Doctrine.
Jerry,
Thanks! I like that idea of tagging commentaries as exegetical, language, application, and critical.
Personally created several collections for commentaries, including one for commentaries not in other collections. Wiki page has many Example Collections (learned about series: filter, quite useful for commentary series with many volumes).
For tagging, added Interlinear to Bibles (especially Reverse Interlinears). Also added tag lbs to resources with Logos Greek Morphology (same as English Reverse Interlinears for New Testament).
Keep Smiling [:)]
A. I use a set of tags (TOREAD, READING, FINISHED) to mark books which I'd like to read soon, am in the middle of reading, or have finished reading. I avoid using READ as the past tense, because the filter on that (mytag:READ) would also pick up the other two tags.
B. I use a bunch of tags with prefixes to keep track of certain things about my library:
1) Bought: YYYYMMDD - the date I bought it (since the "Last Updated" field will change if the resource gets updated by Logos)
2) Base: XXXXXX - the base package that this resource came with, if I got it as part of a base package (including via upgrading to a new base package); e.g. Base: Portfolio
3) Bundle: XXXXXX - the bundle that this resource came with, if it came with a bundle (this one is mutually exclusive with Base, and any resources that have neither Base nor Bundle came as stand-alones)
4) Shelf: XXXXXX - the "virtual shelf" that I put this book away on; I use this to give me a way of viewing my Logos library that feels more like a physical library. This way I can browse it by shelf. A book can only be on one shelf at a time (sometimes I change my mind about where I want to put it away, though, and I'll edit the tag). So I've got a bunch of possible values for XXXXXX (an ever expanding list), including mostly major topical areas, e.g., History, Theology, Biography, Fiction, OTStudies, NTStudies, etc. But also some sub-shelves, that would correspond to sections within shelves. For example I have one shelf tag Bibles. And another one called Bibles-Foreign and another Bibles-OriginalLang.
C. The rest of my tags are used for making collections. I have lots of collections (122 at the moment). I use them for more than just searching in a subset of my library. They are also for browsing my library by topic, generating bibliographies of books on a certain topic, etc. They are kind of an overlay/supplement to the Subject field that Logos provides and books can have more than one of these topic/category tags. Some examples of the ones I use are: Anabaptism, Apologetics, Archaeology, Arts, BibleChar, Canon, Catholic, Christology, Catholics, Devotional, Ecclesiology, Ecology, Ethics, Geography, GkRef, HebRef, Hermeneutics, Holiness, Homiletics, Hymnal, Hymnology, JewishBkgnd, Messianic, Pentecostal, Philosophy, Poetry, Puritan, Science, Sermons, Topical, Typology, WorldReligions, XanLiving. And more...
So, what tags do you use?
Here is my tagging system. Some day soon, Lord willing, I will produce a video showing how this tagging system works with some custom passage and exegetical guides.

Wow, you all amaze me how organized you all are. I hope one day I will be able to tag my resources, but first, like is the topic here, I need a methodology. Very good suggestions.Frank, I look forward for your video tutorial.
Blessings,
Nielsen
I need a methodology.
I am not sure I know what you mean by this.
Do you mean how to we find books that fit the tags we have chosen? Or do you mean how and why we chose the tag we did? Or do you mean something else?

I realize that I am resurrecting an old thread but I was really impressed to discover Frank's document on how he organized his tags. Does anyone know if Frank ever made a video of this like he said he was thinking of doing? I'd love to see it.
No I did not. Shame on me.[:$] I have just put it back on my to do list. Thanks for the reminder.[:D]
I don't want to put any pressure on you Frank but I'd love to see what you have done. Thanks.
I use tags for specifically indicating
