Accidentaly turning pages on the iPad

I'm just getting used to using Logos on my iPad 2. I find it very easy to accidently turn the page when I don't want to. Sometimes just my big thumb holding the device turns the page; other times slightly missing tapping on a hyperlink near the edge of the page turns the page instead.
Is this a problem that other people have? Would it be easier if you had to swipe rather than tap to turn the page, or would that cause problems for other users?

I usually prefer to tap to turn the page, though it does lead to the occasional mistaken page turn. Same for hyperlinks - accidentally tap the wrong area sometimes. But both the Kindle app and Apple's own iBooks function the same way, and for myself I do prefer this behavior even if it means the occasional mis-tap.
