INDEXING

I primarily use L3 but nearly every time I open L4 it goes through a lengthy process of indexing. It slows the computer down to the point its almost unusable.

Then, each time I "defrag & optimize" I notice the defragger app spends most of its time moving L4 stuff.

I'm not a big fan of L4 anyway and this is certainly unwanted behavior. Any ideas?

    Terry,

Logos should only index under the following circumstances

    • New Installation
    • Adding New/Updated Resources (Updated resources could be the main culprit if you don't use L4 much)
    • A Program update modifies the Index format for more features/stability
    • You issue the command "Rebuild Index" or "Rebuild Bible Index"

If your indexing takes place in a circumstance not one of these there could be a problem somewhere or you shut down the computer in the middle of indexing which would cause you to lose all progress.

The only way to further work on this issue would be to enable permanent diagnostic logging and upload the logs if Logos indexes other than the scenarios described above.

    Terry,

As Kevin pointed out this is unusual behavior. I suspect that your indexer may be crashing so it attempts to restart every time you open Logos 4. The only way to be sure is follow Kevin's suggestion of enabling diagnostic logging and looking for an Indexer Crash log after this happens again.
