As I was working I thought of something that could easily go un-noticed so I thought we could start a thread on "easily missed" features of L4.

My easily missed feature is that the reference at the top of the passage guide is a hyperlink that will open up the passage.

I keep think of things. In the Word for Word section of a guide you can change the Interlinear used. Just click on the Interlinear name at the top of the Word for Word and select what you want.

Also, if you hover next to the X to the right of the "Word for Word" header "settings" will appear that will allow you to adjust which words are automatically looked up.

For those with a wheel on their mouse or trackballs.... you don't need to select a window pane before scrolling up/down in that window. Give it a try. [H]

It's documented in the help file, but some may not know that if you customize a guide (i.e. passage guide, exegetical guide, word study guide) and name it "My Passage Guide" or "My Exegetical Guide", or "My Word Study Guide", it becomes the default guide. I have a custom Passage guide, and because I named it "My Study Guide", when click on the go button from the home page my custom passage guide is now brought up instead of the generic template guide. I love this feature!

It was simplified to F7. Great call! This is one of my favs. with the cursor over a verse in a translation press F7.

With your Bibles or other serial resources prioritized....you can simply double click to the right of the "+" on the right edge of the Tabbed window you are in....to open the following resource.

For instance I have NASB, NKJV, ESV, KJV as prioritized Bibles. Let's say I have the NKJV as my focused window, and double click near the +....my ESV will open. Do it again, then the KJV will open.

When you first open the Text Comparison tool they will be aligned automatically. That means the program will decide if the verses are on top of each other or beside each other based upon the width of your window. You can force it one way or the other via the resource menu. Also, don't forget that you can move the column anywhere you want, even along the bottom spanning several panes.

If you want a quick comparison of a verse your studying click F7.

Hyperlinks are draggable. Grab a hyperlink and drop it wherever you want it to open. It will open as a new tab.

Once you've set up a visual filter (see the video on it) give it a name and then you can toggle it on and off using the "triple circle" at the top of the resource pane of the resource.

I've set up visual filters for each of the greek verb moods: Indicative, Imperative, etc. Using the visual filter domahicky I can select one, two, three, etc or none

Collapsing a section in one of the guides means it won't open the next time you run that guide. So, if you want a guide to finish faster and there is a section you never use (topics is still a work in progress and not very useful yet, handouts are -- according to Thomas Black -- worthless) so collapse them and then they don't populate until you expand them.

Another thing I did to speed things up was create a template called "blank Template" with nothing in it. then I can quickly start it up and add a section if it is only one section I am interested in.

Set up a guide called "My Passage Guide" or "My Exegetical Guide" or "My Bible Word Study" and these will be used instead of the predefined templates when run from places like the Go Bar on the home page. They will also always appear in the right-click context menu.

I would prefer at this point to use gentler terms like, "broken".

Easy to fix though. Never auto check and never auto fill anything. Less work on the front end and less work for us to fix on the back end.

They've been working overtime tagging images and these are easily searchable in your library with the operator #image:

As you can see - over 2000 hits in but 3 seconds.... Click on the first one and it opens in place. Right click on the image and I can copy it, save it, print it, or send it straight to Powerpoint:

Home Page:

- The scripture references on the Home Page are hyperlinks, and you can hover your mouse over to see the Bible passage.

- To make the Home Page go away and go back to your study windows, click the Home Page button again (both the Home Page button and the Library button are toggle buttons -- it wasn't obvious to me at first).

which reminds me that if you want the library to stay open, drag it to the desktop to create a tab. you can drag search to where you want it as well.

The Version River tool is interesting for comparing translations, but I think it has a more sutble, powerful application.

If you want a quick way to discover the verses in a passage which merit deeper translational work (because they are most different between translations), the graph can help you quickly identify them.

Also, when you mouseover the graph, you will get a Text Comparison popup (a la F7) to quickly check differences.

You can rename your resources and give them a short name. I have done this with my commentaries so they are easier to spot in my passage guide. in the library show more information (the circled i) and click on the pencil icon. If copy the [HNTC: ] to the clipboard and paste it to the front of each name it will go quicker.

When you first run a text comparison it is set to "auto" which means
Logos determines if you want verses on top of each other or side by
side. If the pane is too narrow they are on top of each other, if it is
wider they are side by side. Drag the comparison tab to the Bottom
Middle. The blue section should span allong the bottom of the screen.
Drop it there and they should go side by side. You can also force it to
go vertical or horizontal. See below picture. The easiest way is to
hover over the passage you want to compare in a translation and press
F7.

Gotta mention this one for Bob...he's very proud of this one :-) Beta testers, you know what's coming....

If you have it, open up "A Harmony of the synoptic Gospels" In this harmony, the phrases match up line for line. In others a verse will have its equivalent verse next to it. In this one, a verse will have its equivalent phrase next to it. Now increase or decrease the size of the pane. The Harmony's columns adjust and the phrases stay aligned. Pretty cool, huh? (Bob, do I get a prize?)

This is more Windows 7 then Logos, but it takes advantage of L4 floating windows. If you have two or more windows open, you can put logos at the front of the taskbar, or anywhere between slots 1 and 9, and have instant shortcuts to your logos windows. If you press ALT+Tab you will cycle through all windows. This can be annoying because you have to know where to stop. However if you press WINDOW + 1 you get the first Logos window, WINDOW+1+1 the second window, etc. Since it doesn't rotate through the windows but always start at 1 every one of your windows has their own shortcut instantly. I hope that made sense :-)

Very simple but if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel you can close tabs by clicking the scroll wheel.
