... why a commentary on Deutero-Isaiah turns up in a PG for Isaiah 4:5?
it's a new feature. Logos have moved beyond just giving you results for your searches and now offers suggestions on what IT thinks you should be reading instead!
Make you a deal, buy me Hermeneia and I'll try to figure it out [;)]
Shouldn't this be reported as a BUG in the Logos 4 forum? I don't think the Logos folks who scan the forums for bug reports will notice it with the subject line "Can someone explain to me..." in the General forum.

More like the Mac forum in that case. I guess I wasn't absolutely sure it was a bug, and not just me missing something. Plus I didn't know if it was an issue with the resource itself, or with L4Mac. I was hoping some PC user would check it up quickly, and then I could have changed the heading. Guess that didn't work out so well this time... I'll write a new bug report later.

I believe that this bug is with the resource. I too get this same feature on my pc.
I'd be thinking that Logos folks would be assuming that most posts would be bug reports and subsequently be reading all of the posts.

Melissa has told me that this is not the case. She (who is the primary one looking for bug reports) has not been able to keep up with the volume of posts, so she has to be selective. In fact a large percentage of the posts are "how do I do this in Logos" type posts, which MVPs and other users can answer.
I'll write a new bug report later.
Sent a mail instead.
The reason HRMNEIA23CIS is listed for Isaiah 4:5 is because of the reference to that verse in footnote 7 in the Introduction.
??? That footnote is on p1. The PG link takes me to p45.
You're probably clicking on the "Introduction" link rather than the highlighted search hit link, which is footnote 7 in this case.
Unless your copy of Logos looks very different to mine, there are no separate "Introduction" and "highlighted search hit" links in Passage Guide, it's all one and the same link. [;)] You're using Search, not PG.
(Besides, p45 isn't even in the Introduction.)

I concur
Goodness-- I was looking at my own screenshot, which is from Search results. Never mind. )
I'll look into the Passage Guide link.
You cannot imagine how happy I am to discover others make these mistakes too. (Especially you Melissa!) [:D]
After looking at this again, the reason the link in the PG opens to Page 1 is because the footnote is in the Introduction and the active reference is a Page number not a Bible reference.
Edit: I should add that the Commentaries section of the PG works differently than the Collections section, as it is working off Bible references. If you were to add a Collections section to your guide and select the Hermeneia series as the Collection, the "Introduction" link would open this resource to the location of the footnote.
But the PG doesn't open to page 1 -- it opens to page 45! Which is the chapter after the Introduction. I've kind of said that twice before... [:D] How am I supposed to find the reference? By hovering over every single footnote number in the entire commentary until I find the one mentioning the correct verse?
And are PG's supposed to bring up every commentary that just happens to mention my verse in a footnote? Aren't they supposed to bring up only commentaries that actually cover the relevant book, or, in this case, the relevant part of the relevant book?

I see the same thing you are seeing and I am wondering the same thing that you are fgh.
Thanks for the support! When you have to argue like this with someone like Melissa, who knows so much more about the program than I do, then it's hard not to get this creeping feeling that "surely it must be me who's doing something totally stupid?".
It is bringing up the closest passage to the location, which is "Isaiah" on Page 45.
I'll check into this further.

Melissa,
For me, it doesn't matter how I look at this issue, it looks like a bug to me. If this commentary should be in the passage guide because it references the scripture verse in a footnote, then the PG should open the commentary to the page that has the foot note. Thus, it is a bug (commentary not opening up to the correct page).
Personally, I see it as a bug because this commentary should not be in this PG for its given input parms.
