For a limited time you can get free software from displaylink to use your ipad as a second (or third) monitor...

Check it out:      ipad.displaylink.com

I'm using one of their usb adapters to drive my third (non ipad) monitor and just happened across this page today.  It seemed a worthy off topic item to point my fellow Logos heads to it.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Thanks for posting!!! Yesterday I began considering the iPad, wondering if it could be used as second monitor.

NOTE: Looks like this utility is PC only.

Just did this set up and I am using Windows 7 on a laptop and also have a second monitor.  Now I am writing what you are looking at on my Ipad using the free displaylink app.  Thanks for this heads up Thomas.image

    Jerry,

As I don't have an ipad, can you tell us if it displays and works with L4 as well?

    ie. does it display WPF?

Thomas, I am looking at a Logos Bible that I moved onto the Ipad via a floating window.  The text is clear, however when I scroll it does get fuzzy for a fraction of a second before it clears up.  Movements can be a little jerky but I am using a wireless mouse.  Overall with the limited experience I have had with the last few minutes I am pleased with it.  Besides free is good.  I don't what you are asking me concerning WPF.  I don't know the first thing about it.  The laptop I am using has an integrated video card which creates some restrictions sometimes in Logos and may affect use of three monitors.  But the font is clear and everything I have used so far is great.

I suppose the app is using the Ipad the same as a monitor, so I don't know how to direct the sound through the Ipad.

I thought this a spiffy idea and got the software. (It works great as a viewer-monitor from the laptop to the iPad.)

I had not thought it all the way through, though, with the 3-monitors setup that I have at home. I'm using another extension software for those monitors and this displaylink software caused my original setup to crash, with monitor #3 having no signal. Hopefully when I return later today that I can recover the use of the 3 monitors. I did notice on a reboot before I left that displaylink wanted to reload even after using Control Panel to delete the program. It never did show up on RevoUninstaller, a factor that causes me to think that I will have to manually edit the Registry.

    Thinking is always necessary... [:$][8o|]

I still don't have an iPad but their other products open up a lot of possibilities (automotive computing options.)   Thanks for posting.

Followup to the 7:21am entry : it was an easy fix. Simply delete the original program, reboot, install it, reboot, delete it again, reboot, install it again, and it worked. Come to find out that it's the same folks that I use for my 3 monitors! The tweak for the iPad didn't agree with the current one on the desktop, I guess. However, as mentioned, it works great as a viewer-monitor from the laptop. And there are indeed possibilities with their other products.
