Linking Libronix searches to Diogenes.exe

Hi,

At present, definitions in the Liddell-Scott dictionary in Libronix may be clicked on, and a morphological search is then performed via the external Perseus Web Site. Does anyone know how to link Libronix, similarly, to home computer based software such as Diogenes.exe? As is well known, it has both a Liddell-Scott and a Lewis-Short dictionary built in.

Welcome Darryl,

This would be possible if Logos provides a suitable interface, and as Libronix is a superseded product do not expect that to happen. But, if you are a programmer it may be possible via the Libronix Object Model, although this comment on a download site is not encouraging:

"The program features several ways to query Latin and Greek databases,
although the way they work sometimes is not clear and I ended up getting
some cryptic database message errors which I wasn't sure how to avoid,
as there's no documentation."

I recommend that you get BDAG and Liddell and Scott in Logos if you don't already have it. Perseus will give you no more on the lexical entries than the L & S will. As for Lewis & Short, Perseus does have that as well, but I recommend downloading a small DOS app called "Words." It's very handy since you can pop it up at any time and query it.

BTW: Isn't Diogenes the program used to search the TLG disk?

I think a little clarification is needed here. The screen shot that MJ posted is from L4. You can download the L4 engine for free here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe
