I do not currently have Logos 4 loaded onto my computer.

I am interested in purchasing the 59 volume set of the Word Biblical Commentary.  My question is this: if I were to purchase this 59 volume set AND download the free Logos 4 software, would I be able to read the Word commentary volumes on my computer?  If not, what additional software would I need to purchase from Logos to read them?

    Welcome [:D]

Logos software is Free and available for many platforms => http://www.logos.com/4ways

For many Logos 4 features, may want to consider a base package along with Word Biblical Commentary => http://www.logos.com/comparison

Many Logos 4 features need appropriate resources.

Before purchasing Word Biblical Commentary (WBC) (59 vols.) , may want to email or call Logos sales => http://www.logos.com/about/contact  (set was on sale earlier this year)

Wiki has Free Logos Books page.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

Is it possible to purchase a Bible version, say NRSV, as a stand-alone purchase or are most Bible versions only obtainable by purchasing a base package?

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Just search for the version you're interested in on the Logos website and you'll find the page where you can purchase it as a stand-alone. I think most Bibles can be got this way. Here's NRSV: http://www.logos.com/product/323/the-new-revised-standard-version-bible

You might want to consider also purchasing the minimal crossgrade, which is a bottom line package of useful basic resources along with the required databases (Logos Controlled Vocabulary, Biblical People/Places/Things, etc.) and features that make Logos 4 really shine. You can still do some basic stuff with it without the databases, but if you're willing to spend $39.95 for one Bible, it's not that much more of a stretch to throw in $69.95 (the cost of the minimal crossgrade) to get the Reverse Interlinear capability on that NRSV (not available if you buy it as a standalone) plus 6 other Bible translations, maps, timelines, lectionaries, a few Bible reference resources, and the ability to access all of these on your iPhone if you have one.

Be aware that the WBC seems to be on sale fairly frequently. I think I've seen at least 4 sales at $399 or $499 since September. So unless you need it this very week, it might be worth waiting a while.

Actually, it seems you don't have to wait. There seems to be a very good sale going on right now, if you don't mind a little detective work: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/33418.aspx.
