Sermon sharing

I just went through the process of converting and uploading my first sermon from cassette to share with a couple of my friends. Two of the sites I tried bombed completely in uploading the mp3 but the third one seems to have made a viable upload. All three were painfully slow, something that probably just comes with the territory. Any idea of good free sites for this if I should get to do this a bit more often. I'm comfortable with Filezilla if they allow manual FTP.

Michael, dropbox works great fo uploading and sharing. The have a free account that allows up to 2GB of data.

Yes, the other person needs to have dropbox to have access to the "share folder." But, if you referred the person and he or she signs up and opens an accout you will get 250MB extra space free. In fact, I've referred some of my friends and only a few signed up, but my dropbox account is now 9GB instead of 2GB, so dropbox is not a bad deal. Hope this helps!

What sites did you try? I really like megashares.com as it seems to be the fastest (for me) of the free file-sharing sites. They do have a pay option, but unless you're uploading something over 550mb you should be fine. The other sites (megaupload.com; rapidshare.com; fileserve.com; etc) should work as well.

Do you have a church website? If so, perhaps check the storage space you have available as that might be a good option for hosting your audio sermons. Many web hosting places offer unlimited storage these days and you may already have that setup. You wouldn't need to link the sermon to your webpage - simply upload to the root folder of your site and email the link (www.churchsite.org/audiofile.mp3) to your friend(s) and it should be fine.

Also, if you are wanting to share regularly produced video sermons, a great option is www.blip.tv. They will host it for free and also give you a video player to embed into your website for free if you like. For $100 or so a year they will also automatically convert the files and send them to iTunes and other sites.

I was trying esnips and mediafire. For reasons I don't understand, they didn't work. I finally got it to work on 4share. It was just a 39 meg mp3. That took nearly an hour, but it worked.

I mostly want an accessible relable site for occasional use, nothing big or fancy. This really was the tech equivalent of pushing a big boulder up the hill.

Maybe what I need is a blog page that allows me to put up some files from time to time. Never had this trouble with posting pictures. Photobucket has been great for that.
