Purchased a new book but cannot add it to my Guide

Hello,
I just recently purchased the Works of Edward Polhill and wanted to add it to my guide which I call, Preferred Guide. However, when I go to edit this guide and add a Collection or Commentary, I cannot seem to find it.
How can I tell what type of book does the Works of Edward Polhill fall under?

The Works of Edward Polhill is what Logos calls a monograph. You can see this under 'Type' in your Library when you show your Library in single line view.
Since it is not a commentary you should not try adding it to a commentary collection. In fact it will not 'work' in a guide that is based on searching for a passage of Scripture because it is not indexed by scripture. Unless I misunderstand you, your custom guide is a custom Passage Guide and Polhill will not work in that.
To use this book you can use the search tool to search within it. It is indexed by all the words within it and also by Large Text words like headings and also by footnote text. If you are unsure how to search within a single resource (or a collection of resources) you can learn a lot more on the wiki: http://wiki.logos.com/Detailed_Search_Help

Personally added "The Works of Edward Polhill" to my Theology collection due to writing focus on theology and principles of the Bible.
Basic Search for my brother keeper in All Text within my Theology collection includes 1 article by Edward Polhill.

If you really want it to be you preferred Guide it would be better to call it My Passage Guide (or My Exegetical Guide, if that's what it is), as it will then automatically become your default Passage or Exegetical Guide.
