Contemplating Logos 4 for my Mac

I am thinking of purchasing Logos 4 for my Mac, but my Mac is three years old (and still working fine). I am a recent grad from a biblical literature program, so I need resources to continue my studies. I have no bible software currently, and I think that Logos would be a great option. BUT, I read something about problems with Macs. Are there still problems with Logos and Mac? Will it cause my computer to crash? Will it work properly? Is it worth purchasing? Any guidance would be appreciated.Thanks!

Will you be continuing in your studies through a Bible College? Logos does offer academic discounts. You can also download the base program for free, however, it is limited in scope.

There are several users on this site who have older macs and enjoy Logos, but many find it slow at times. I don't think you have to worry about it crashing your computer. How much RAM do you have? What speed processor?

I have a macbook pro that is late 2009. It's 2.26ghz and runs Logos just fine. But, I also upgraded my ram to 8gb (I bought it with 4gb). You might have have issues with only 2gb of ram, but if all you are running at one time is Logos then between 2 and 4gb should be fine (I upgraded to 8gb because I like to run multiple apps at once). With the price of ram being as cheap as it is these days (check newegg.com or tigerdirect.com), it's worth it IMO to do the upgrade. I think I spent $80 on my upgrade, which is less than the cost of many Logos resources.

Thankful for awesome Logos 4 Mac improvements (since Alpha pre-releases); looking forward to many more. Along the way have experienced numerous Logos 4 Mac applications crashes and memory leaks that need Mac OS X to be restarted to reset memory (sometimes daily).

As a Logos user with Many Volunteer Posts (MVP), personally like Beta bugginess, crash reporting, and reading logs. Wiki has Logos 4 Beta Program page with information and risks.

Thankful for friendly Logos forum discussions, have learned a lot from other Logos users and Logos employees. Also Thankful Logos 4 Mac is usable on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Wiki has Getting Started with Logos page that includes many worthwhile tips.

For initial purchase, buying biggest affordable package is good idea. Logos does offer package upgrade pricing along with payment plans. Comparison page http://www.logos.com/comparison shows resources included with each package. Many Logos 4 features need appropriate resources.

For ongoing purchases, Logos Community Pricing has best deals. Logos users bid on resources. When enough bids have been placed to cover estimated production cost, a Friday closing time is set (minimum 2 days, maximum 9 days). If more bids are placed, resource price can drop (to $ 1 or $ 2). Then resource becomes a pre-publication under development with significantly higher price. When resource is ready to ship (weeks or months later), credit card is charged (and resource price goes up again). I have the latest 13" White Macbook which seems to have similar specs to yours and I have no problems (I don't mind small delays in windows changing etc.), but it will depend on your expectations. As far as I'm concerned it's perfectly usable and getting better and better.

I'm running L4M on a 1.83G Core 2 w. 2GB RAM. with Snow Leopard. If I can do it, I think you can do it with yours. No it's not a barn burner, but I do get real work done with it.

If you can add RAM that helps.
