Not one, not two, but THREE Resource Manager folders!

I was searching through my Logos4 folder looking for a missing file. I didn't find it (that's the topic of another thread), but what I did find was astonishing.

My Logos4 folder structure has the following (this is not everything, just selected items)

Logos4
- Data
      - xumwqkaf.dlk
           - BibleIndex
           - LibraryIndex
           - ResourceManager
- Documents
      - Data
- bzoybrov.vhy

             - BibleIndex

                - LibraryIndex

               - ResourceManager
- Documents

- bzoybrov.vhy


             - Documents

               - ResourceManager

That's THREE ResourceManager folders, and FOUR Documents folders! What on earth is going on here?

Wait, there's more: hundreds of files are duplicated in those folders. The Resource Manager folder has more than 4 GB. It's no wonder when I was installing Logos I kept getting the error message "Not enough room in your hard drive."

By the way: Why do they have such weird folder names, like "xumwqkaf.dlk" and "bzoybrov.vhy"?

I suppose I could try deleting some of those folders and files, but I expect Logos would just put them back with the next sync.

Bruce, I would recommend that you call Logos. I have never seen this before.

It would appear from the different random directories you have that there is something left over from another installation of L4. But I don;t think that is supposed to be able to occur. As Lyden suggested, I would contact Logos and have tech support take a look at what is happening.

You have remnants of previous attempts to install Logos 4 it seems.

A proper installation will have two Resource Manager folders, one in the Data folder, a second in the Documents folder. The contents of each will be different.

When Logos installs it creates that unusual string as a folder name. It is unique to each installation. Since you have more than one such string you have parts (or all) of more than one installation. Everything can be deleted besides the currrent operating one installation.

You'll need to do a little detective work to figure out which set of folders is part of the current, operating system.

If you see the string name only under the data or the documents folder, that is an extraneous folder. The correct string name will be under both the data and documents folders.

You can look at the date stamps on the folders to see which is the most current, as well. One string name should have a newer date than others. Again there should be two instances of it. One under Data and one under Documents. That is your correct set of folders.

I took the easy route: uninstalled Logos, reinstalled it. Everything is hunky dory now.

Well, except that the Lexham English Bible still doesn't appear, but that's another thread.

A second unique folder name can also be created if two people with different Logos.com accounts sign in to the same Logos 4 installation under the same OS user account, but under their own Logos account. This will create two unique folders under Data and Documents in the same Logos4 folder.
