OT: Hebrew Tutorial

For those who would like to learn Hebrew, there is what seems like a good Hebrew tutorial on-line:
http://foundationstone.com.au/
There are versions of the software for use on-line, as well as for the PC, Mac, Unix, PDAs ( both Palm and Pocket PC), various Game Counsols, etc. It looks good, though I have just begun the process of using it. Like learning any new thing, it will take work. It is not a "Hebrew pill" that automatically inserts the language into our brain.

This is somewhat of a joke, but there is a resource like this. The last few days I have ben searching for books on biblical languages and textual criticism not available on Logos. Sometimes, I will also search Logos as well as Google full books which you can download from PDF. This actually saved me some money-the GooGle stuff where I have been able to download and actually saved a few hundred bucks.
Anyways, last night I saw this CD which was "Subliminal Learning" on Biblical Hebrew. I laughed and think it fits what you are actually looking for.
On the other hand, I recently bought some CD's that puts some the endings of Greek constructions in nouns and I believe verbs in little kids songs like in the une of Mary had a little lamb.
There might be something similar with Hebrew that might help quite a bit. What I found was put out by Zondervan.
Now, on another note. For the endings of Hebrew and pronunciation for vocabulary, my ideal is to record some of this, throw it on a CD, listen to it actively, listen to it passively. Maybe even listen to it when you drift off to sleep at night. I am sure some of it will get boaring after awhile, but I have found this helps a lot for other things I have studied. Just a suggestion. I definetly plan on using this methodology when I get settled down to start learning Koine Greek.
On the other hand, Parsons put out an absolutely great little program for Koine Greek which you can either use as the main way to learn Greek or as a tutor. I do not know about Hebrew, but if they come out with something for Greek, Iam sure they have something coming out for Hebrew if they do not already have it. Something worth looking into.
The Greek tutor by parsons is absolutely awesome.
Hope this helps a bit.
God bless

"I asked my Rabbi, 'what was the meaning of life?'
He told me the meaning of life but he told it to me in Hebrew.
I told him I don't understand Hebrew.
Now he wants to charge me $600 for Hebrew lessons."

Can you elaborate? Their website has VERY LITTLE actual information, no screen shots, no real description...etc...

Parsons has had Hebrew Tutor and Greek Tutor out for around 20 years. They started out as just flash card programs. I first got them on 5 .25" floppy disks. Eventually they grew into "Multimedia" Hebrew & Greek with a lot more content. They are still easily found online. CBD has them.

To me, the most important strength of the program is the flash card program andtesting.
Before describing this, it also has audio pronunciations to help you with the pronunciation.
When going over the grammar, letter, and word endings, it gives you multiple choice questions.
I have found that if you take about 20-30 minutes to go over this in the flash card/quizzing-you get a pretty good foundation of what you are being tested on.
I wuld also say, once you get into the testing part, when you are 10 lessons in, go back and review your previous testing sessions and re-test yourself. This helps burn the lessons into your mind as it becomes more natural.
As far as the actual instruction, I cannot remember if it has a narrator read orjust something you read. It is all vey easy to function through the program.
My one criticism is you need the CD running in your computer. If you do not have the CD, you will not be able to utilize it.
The visuals are mainly a blue background and letters in either white or yellow(it hasbeen a while since going through the program).
Anyways, I think it is one of the best tools for learning biblical languages as a supplement or tutor.

David,
I bought the Greek Tutor software and it's pretty good.
One thing is that you were right; you need the CD in the drive...how dumb.
I got some freeware software called "Magicdisk" that "mounts" an image of the CD to your computer AS IF it's in the drive...it assigns it a drive letter and everything...to windows; it's just another drive.
You set it up and run it from your new drive location...no disk necessary....
