Hi Bryan,

The only time I ever dealt with Jim-Ray I was treated wonderfully. But I must add, I have been treated that way by every Logos employee I have ever dealt with. My "regular" guy is Dave Kaplan. (Really he is quite special, not so "regular") I have also encountered four others over the last few years. All have been "professional, courteous and extremely helpful."

As for the "abruptly left Logos" part,I'm not sure that is germane to the thread. I wish Jim-Ray well and recommend Dave Kaplan without reservation. I know the office at Apple probably said the same thing about Jessie Martin "abruptly leaving." Ten years from now several of the people we know and love will have moved on. We should express our appreciation to them while they are still with us.

Do not tell me that horrible news that Jim Ray left! He worked with me for a big customized package and he did an excellent work adjusting the academic dicount for all the resources that I selected. It was a lot of work. I tried to work that same buy with a former salesman and Logos almost lost my business as the other was not friendly, never answered the e-mails, was always lost about how to proceed, was so negative ... a mess! I do not know what I'm going to do when I need to update my program. WHAT A LOSS! What happened? Why he left?

I was away at a church retreat over the weekend, so I could have missed a thread. You never know.

I had a nice break from the Internet Friday afternoon through Saturday sometime, until the inevitable happened: I asked one of the staff people if guests could have access to the the WiFi network, and she gave me the password. Oops. So much for having a technology sabbath... Fortunately I was with the good people of my church and I wanted to spend time with them, so I didn't spend much time answering questions on the Logos Forum. But I admit I did peek. [:)] Seems like there were a couple of threads I'm glad I stayed away from. [+o(]

Yes, I have spoken and dealt with Jim-Ray ever since I purchased my Silver L3 base package, then I upgraded to Gold L3, then to Gold L4 and a week or so later to Platinum LE of Logos 4. I have also purchased other resources and he did a great job at always giving a generous discount while others didn't really bother to do so (one in particular whom I tried to do business with and never worked out because of his bad attitude). Others would always offer me 5% less of what Mr. Jim would offer me. I mean, the man was there to really make sure you got the best price ever. I'm sure going to miss him, especially now that I wanted to do an upgrade for my Spanish library and buy a couple of other resources, but I guess I will have to start talking to new sales people to see who will try to work with me at matching the deals Jim-Ray offered to me. Anyway, God bless Mr. Jim-Ray in whatever he plans to do after this.

Douglas, I am nearly certain that different sales reps cannot offer you better deals than other ones. They are all working within the same framework that Logos gives them, and your purchase history is also factored in. If you got a different discount by calling a different sales rep, then it must have been on a different day when there was a sale going on, or else it was after you'd spent more money on other resources. Logos should be giving you a consistent experience working with any sales rep, which should be the same as calling the main Sales number. The only difference between the reps should be their personality/style in working with you and how promptly they tend to respond to emails.

I called Logos last week to place an order with Jim Ray and found out he no longer worked there, I was shocked, I simply hung up without placing any order.

I have had trouble with Logos in the past and Jim Ray is the reason I was still with Logos, it was his willingness to listen and plead my case with Logos several times that has helped me to stay with Logos.

I will miss him and I am sure I will not buy as many resources from Logos since he is gone, he had a very kind manner about how he dealt with me. I think in the last few years he managed to get around 3000 dollars from me and left me feeling very happy I spent it with him!

I miss him already!!!

Rosie, you're probably right, but as many have stated, the experience we've all had with Jim has been unique. He was a great salesperson and someone you enjoyed buying resources from. Logos may want to give me a consistent experience working with any sales rep, but unfortunately no one could match Mr. Jim on that (especially one in particular, but I don't mind because I know you can't always work good deals out with all sales reps). There's this one lady in the Spanish Sales Department that's been generous, I may be giving her a call soon. Anyway, life goes on, Logos is my investment and I will keep growing my library one small step at a time.

I encourage you to talk with a few of the other sales people. I know you could place your orders exclusively through the automated system but it is the people at Logos that make the difference. Sure each of them is unique in personality and nobody else can be Jim-Ray. But I know there are several who will do their best to please you. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.,

Alas, I have had kind service from many reps since my own rep several months back (yes, Mr. Dan P, i know, we really don't have our own sales reps . . . [;)]), and even got a great offer two days ago--but I have had to decline all of them because I am so poor right now! It's been rough~! I must agree with Praiser, Santiago Galeano is a great sales person. With Jim Ray being gone now, yes, you guessed it....I have found my new sales person [Santiago]. Ive just come across this thread, im sorry to say i will miss Jim Ray. He has dealt with all my orders since purchasing my Logos 3 Scholars, Logos 4 Scholars and then Logos 4 Silver. He applied my academic discount to some of my orders and everything went without a hitch.

Good news. The forum posts got past the spam filter so Santiago got in touch with me and made everything right. I urged him to do something about that spam filter. I know that some time back someone hacked into my account and sent spam using my e-mail so that may be the origin of all of this.

True. When Jared Bryant left my e-mail to him was fielded by Santiago because it had been redirected to him. The point was that a designated recipient would not receive the e-mail once he had left.
