Another option for working on the iPad
I have been using Logmein software to have remote access to business computers (and to sort out problems on my mother's computer) for some time. Having recently invested in an iPad, last night I tried using Logmein to access Logos on my own computer—with some success.
This is going to be very useful for working at home (or somewhere else where there is a fast wifi connection) but away from my main computer. It allows me to access the full Logos 4 program, including the books that are not available on the Logos iPad app. It also gives faster access to morphology and lemmas by hovering over words than is possible with the iPad app.
Here's how it works:
You will probably need an unlimited-data broadband connection. Set up an account on the Logmein website. Download Logmein Free to your computer (the free version does not allow file transfers but is perfectly adequate for our purposes). Then buy the Logmein Ignition app for your iPad (it cost me 16.99 GBP; there is no annual subscription as there is for some Logmein programs).
Leave your computer switched on (the ability to switch a computer on remotely only works if another computer on the network with Logmein is switched on) and start Logos 4. On the iPad, log in to you Logmein account and then the relevant computer and choose remote control. You then have full access to your computer from your iPad.
By zooming in a little bit, I can comfortably read about two-thirds of my computer's screen, perfect if I have two columns of text (and a contents pane that I don't view) on full screen. You can move the mouse around, left-click, right-click, double-click, type and do most things that you can do from your computer. Setting the colour-rendering to high resolution greatly improved the images (compression was causing some artefact).
I think I am going to end up using this more than the Logos iPad app for the time being.
