I love the fact you respect Word's outline feature to create the TOC. Excellent!
Looks pretty neat! There is a lot of excitement about the long awaited PBB.
i am not running the beta, so i will wait until later.
a couple of questions tho:
Can you create indexing (e.g. Headwords, Bible) for your new book so that L4 will search that particular field?
Any word on how much it will cost to use PBB when it is released?
There's no documentation, and no-one has worked out how/whether this is possible yet. It was in L3, so I'm sure it is/will be possible.
Not yet.
I like the ease of using the tool. It would be good to see some of the formatting issues after compiling (lists, graphics, tables, etc.) that have already been noted in several threads resolved. So far it seems to be something that many who may have never used the feature in L3 may want to take advantage of. I say this primarily because of how easy it is to compile files into books. Good work Logos[Y]
Cost? Under L3 wasn't it free?
The books that people created were free, but the compiler (which was an addin to the Logos engine) wasn't. Also you had to pay an annual license fee to create and distribute PBBs. Those product pages are gone from the Logos website, so I can't check on the details and prices.
Not intially. It was $99 to create books for your own use, and I think $299 if you wanted to share them. That was a very long time ago though, so it shouldn't be taken as indicative for L4.

So the cost is about generating PBBs and not using PBBs?
That was how it went in Libronix 3. We have no idea what the pricing structure will be for Logos 4, or even if there will be a pricing structure.
Here is a screen shot of an old post from the forums that indicates the PBB license is included with the purchase of an L4 package. It just did not say what the license was for (e.g. Reading, creating, sharing, etc)
Mark,
I'm also loving the formatting....it's amazing...
But as I said in another post...it's a lotta work....I've never done it before so I'm learning as I go..
It was - although only people with a base package could use PBBs in L3. Again, we're not sure about L4.
If you've created your Word document 'properly', Logos PBB behaves very nicely. The screenshot I posted above is a document which has not been optimised for Logos. Styles are a much-neglected feature of Word, and it is very worthwhile learning how to use them properly. I couldn't imagine using Word without proper styles.

I can't wait till I can spend some time playing with PBB. Keep in mind if what you want to be a chapter heading is uniquely formatted within your document (e.g. Size 18 Bolded text) then you can replace all size 18 bolded text with a header style, using the replace function.
Yes..my PBB doc is looking good style wise..I'm using styles exclusively....but the hyperlinks aren't active after compliling.
Also...Q: if we complile, then index.....and then complile again....does that mean we have to re-index again?
My doc isn't searchable....I compiled it...then I re index my whole library...then recompiled it and nothing is searchable.
Did you check to see if it was searchable after you had reindexed your whole library but before you had recompiled the PBB?
That's the one.
