Various Problems (Cannot download resource - Bibliography not working - Study tools malfunction)

I have L3 (3.0g), but rarely use it because of my L4 - however, I do use it for the PBB's still and like to have all my resources on my L3 as well. Ever since I bought the Complete Works of William Shakespeare, it seems my L3 has various "malfunctions" - - here are some that I notice.

1. When I want to create a Bibliography I cannot because the drop-down list where you choose a collection (i.e. All known resources OR All unlocked resources, etc. is completely blank - although this drop-down list does appear in the "My Library" drop-down list.

2. On the home page in the "Study Tools" box I only get the following:

3. All of my resources are on my L3 except my most recent purchase "Morris Jastrow Near Eastern Studies Collection (5 vols.)"; when I go to My Account on the Logos website and go to my orders I can click on the unlock file with confirmation code and an update box opens as usual, it initializes and shows what is to be downloaded (i.e. license file, and resources), but when I click on the "Update" button, the resources never go above 0%, and after a while I get the "Update Error" in the Update box with
"Error code 7"

(I don't know if this last error is because of address connected with the resource is ftp (as opposed to http ???)
Anyway, I'm sure there are other 'querky' issues going on, but I don't use the L3 too often, so this is all I have noticed.

I am running Windows Vista (32bit - 4GB RAM on a Dell XPS M2010 notebook/desktop)

I use Firefox as my default browser, so all my updates go through that, and two of the problems I'm having don't really seem to be internet related . . ., just L3 program related

Libronix uses IE to display a lot of its content, so whether IE 9 is installed can have everything to do with L3 not working,

OK, so I tried the IE patch and it fixed 2 of the 3 problems (I can run a Bibliography now - and I can see my "Study Tools" now). So these were both cosmetic (display) problems I take it because of using IE 9 to display - thanks for the fix.

That leaves 1 problem left - I cannot download my newest resources (I made another purchase recently, and it will not download either). I even tried to make sure the "addin" file was installed as recommended on the Windows download for L3. It was, yet the problem is still the same (see first post).

Have you tried manually downloading the files from the ftp server and putting them in the Libronix resources folder?

This is probably not the case for you; however, if it were a Vryso product, even though it might appear to download into L3.0g -- it will not work there. I found that out when I bought the Bonhoeffer biography from Logos using Vryso....

probably it is just your license downloading one poster said...

I copied and pasted this into the address field of Firefox, but I get the classic "Connection was reset error" - the same thing happened when I tried with IE9. - - - Guess I don't really know how to do it right!!?

Cannot be a Vyrso problem (at least I think) since I do not have Vryso, and I purchased these basically for L4 (and in my account page it says I can unlock and download them for L3)

If you paste this into your web browser and it does not prompt you to download a file, then you have a problem external to Libronix that is preventing the file from downloading to your computer. Is there a firewall that could be interfering? Could you internet service provider be limiting your service or experiencing a problem?

Strange . . . Today, I was able to update my newer books, no problem. Nothing was wrong with my internet, other downloads worked fine, every website I visited, etc. Only when I tried to gain access to the ftp server, would I get the failure message (on every browser I tried IE9, Firefox, and even Chrome). Could it have been a server problem maybe?? Anyway, it works now . . . I would like to know what happened, but I don't think it was my computer because I didn't restart it since then, nor did I close any antivirus programs, etc. - - - The end result, however . . . [:)]

Jeremy, yes that's strange I suppose it could have been a server problem, or perhaps a glitch somewhere in between. Either way I'm glad your books finally downloaded.
