BUG: Force Quit - Logos Bible Software 4.2b SR-1 (4.22.5.1109)

The screen capture speaks for itself.
The outer copy of Logos4 was force quit after Logos4 hung while I was highlighting text.
The inner copy of Logos 4 is the restarted copy.

According to the "force quit" application only the one copy of Logos4 is running. See screen capture below:-

Hope this information helps Logos fix this feature! It seems each time I push Logos4, even just a little bit, the wheels just keep falling off.

For any application which has crashed It's usually best to check also in the Activity Monitor app. The force quit window may not show the whole story.

If you run Activity Monitor (in Utilities folder) you should choose (see screenshot) 'All Processes', then filter by typing in text, in this case I typed 'Logos', to see running Logos applications. If the indexer is running you will see that also.

If you see more than one 'Logos Bible Software 4' always try to shut down normally first the session which is responding then go to Activity Monitor, select the process(es) and choose Quit Process from toolbar.

In extreme cases (process will not die) you may have no choice but to reboot your Mac.

Before the program hung, what are the steps to duplicate what you were doing? What word/words were you highlighting and what highlighting style were you using?

When the program did hang, how long did you wait before attempting to force quit?

Are you able to consistently reproduce the error?

Yeah all good questions.

Since I don't buffer all my actions with the thought there may be an immanent crash in Logos4 Mac my recollection is not so clear. I had been highlighting text with the "On Fire" Emphasis markup when Logos4 stopped responding.

Prior to this I had created two custom styles in a custom Study Notes palette and had difficulties renaming the custom styles. When I created the styles the options I set didn't seem to update correctly and I needed to stop and restart Logos4 for the style settings to take effect.

I feel saddened to say it but as for trying to reproduce the errors which cause this application to hang and crash so often, twice so far this morning, I may as well be working for Logos for the time this would waste me!

Yep I know and in fact I did need to reboot my Mac.

Thank you, that is helpful. Since there is no exception in your logs it gives us a better idea of where to look for the problem. I'll submit your logs to Development.
