Arabic

I think it would be quite useful if Logos offered a basic Arabic grammar textbook. One that has sound files would be great. Arabic is very close to Hebrew, having a similar alphabet. The symbols are different, but the sounds are similar. I think a basic text and an intermediate text would be good. Best of all would be an inexpensive package that includes a number of different older texts that are out of copyright, with perhaps a newer grammar for comparison.

Agreed. Thackery's Arabic through the Koran and Wright's Arabic Grammar (which also references Hebrew, Syriac, and other Semitic languages), would cover both ends of the spectrum.

Ah, correct. I have them all on my shelf. Fischer would probably be difficult/cost prohibitive, if this were to be a cheaper accessible package.

A few years back I saw an advertizement for the keyboard of my dreams. The keys were unmarked. One you selected a script the keyboard was backlighted showing the characters as they applied to that script. That's just too cool.[H]

Indeed that would be nice. Generally I don't look at the keyboard at all since I'm a touch typist -- even in Greek and Hebrew (not Syriac). Sometimes, however, when it comes to very rarely used characters, I need to look. In the case of rare Greek and Hebrew characters that means opening L3 and switching the language there so I can open its on-screen keyboard (I haven't figured out Microsoft's on-screen keyboard yet or I would use it since the English version is nice in Windows 7). Having those odd keys displayed on the keycaps would be nice.

EDIT: Of course, it would be nice for Syriac too. Another thing which I should probably put in as a suggestion is that they add the keyboard into L4.

I would just like to repeat my request for some Arabic grammars, even if they are only public domain resources. This may be a good choice for CP.
