Importing LOGOS 3 Windows Files into LOGOS 4 Mac

I recently purchased LOGOS 4, and took the advice of LOGOS to switch to the Mac version since I was transitioning from PC to Mac, and "both platforms are almost identical." The problem is that I now see that many of my custom files such as the Sermon File Add-in with all my sermons, note files, and most importantly, my visual filters, cannot be imported into LOGOS 4 Mac. The software will virtually be useless if I cannot get this problem resolved.

How can I import Windows versions of my note files, sermons, or visual filters from LOGOS 3 to LOGOS 4 (Mac)?

Welcome to the forums and to Logos 4! Unfortunately, the sermon add-in has not been released yet for Logos 4. Their first priority is releasing the PBB (which is in the beta stage), and the sermon add-in will likely change quite a bit from the Logos 3 version. I don't know about the notes and filters. However, the advice you received was not bad advice. Logos 4 and Logos 4 Mac are almost identical. (there are some features on the Windows version that haven't been released yet for Logos 4 Mac, but it doesn't sound like they are anything that is causing you an issue). However, Logos 3 and Logos 4 are two VERY different creatures. I think, in time, you will find Logos 4 to be much better than Logos 3, but yes, you may need to do some additional work to get up and running in the short term. If you are truly unhappy, I'm sure Customer Service would be happy to refund your purchase. Let us know how this community can help.

Import directly from Libronix 3 to Logos 4 Mac currently not feasible. However, importing from Libronix 3 to Logos 4 on Windows is an option for notes, highlighting, and more => Importing from LDLS3 wiki page. Once imported to Logos 4 PC, can sync to Logos servers, then sync to Logos for Mac.

Forum discussion => New wiki page on use of highlighting and visual filters may be helpful (wiki page announced in forum thread has many visual filter examples).

Thanks both of you for the input. I've resigned myself to manually re-creating the visual filters for my Greek studies in LOGOS 4 instead of laboring over the sync.

I sincerely hope that I am proved wrong, but so far nothing about LOGOS 4 holds a candle to LOGOS 3. I am constrained to use it because I wanted a better operating system (Mac). But I'll be pining for the "good ole' days" of a much cleaner interface which will die with my PC and LOGOS 3.

I'm beginning to sound like an old man at age 30. [:)]

Logos 3 doesn't have to die with your PC - you can run in on a Windows virtual machine installed on your Mac, using VMware Fusion or Parallels. I keep a bare-bones copy of Logos 3 on my Windows virtual machine for unlocking older Logos compatible products still on CD's...

Wiki Extended Tips for Visual Filters => Examples of visual filters has a set of Logos Greek Morphology visual filters, which are usable in Greek and English Reverse Interlinear Bibles.

Concur with Otto about Windows in a virtual machine (by the way, Oracle's VirtualBox is free, but Windows is not). Also have Libronix 3.0g in a Windows XP virtual machine.

Anticipating Logos 4.3 stable release soon. May want to consider Personal Book Builder (PBB) for your notes and sermon files to create your own resources for use in Logos 4.

You can actually "scan" and import your sermon files from Libronix into L4. Just grab the actual files from your PC and pop them on your mac (desktop is what I use), then run something like the following command in L4 on your mac:

scan /Users/cpriest/Desktop

Then restart L4 and they'll show up in your library!

You can continue to use the sermon add-in from libronix, then copy/scan into L4.

If you have the patience and can put up with issues, the better way to go IMHO is to do your sermons as a PBB: just add a new PBB file every time you have a new sermon. The "bad" news is that you'll need to save the sermon as a docx file. Most easily from MS Word 2011, but you should be able to use the live.com "cloud" version of Word too.
