Drop down menus for strings...

Hello,

What would you think about having a drop down menu of sorts for all "strings" that program Logos "do do what we want" labeled with titles. This could be done with having a few "categorized" buttons at the top (or even one that branches out like the right click menu) of any panel, that allows you to simply choose the command you desire, rather than becoming a Logos programmer

As there is a drop down menu for Visual Filters to pick from, I have used other Programs (especially Homepage "html" programs) that allow for the Click of a button and it inputs the code for you. Highly desirable for the average person wanting to Understand their Bible a little Better

In my other post Concerning the Word Alterations, Jacob announced his post on this very Subject. And with an overwhelming response of approval at the idea, suggestions from every corner were mentioning "strings" of commands with which to search with. Looking at this presentation, I put myself in others shoes that might not be so "computer, or programmer" savy and said how could we make this simpler. I thought of my html days, vs. now. Same results only the computer does the programming for you now. For a programmer this takes all of the fun out of it (I really like html), but for the next guy that just bought the software and would like to know some of the same things (getting the same results) as the people in Jacobs post, he will have to do some study in a particular side of life that he may particularly have no interest in. If he bought the Software to Study the word, he should be able to use all of it's tools with simplicity, keeping his eyes on the purpose for which he bought the program in the first place. Studying the Word.

It sounds as if you are chasing pebbles in hope of catching a bear.

I am not sure how "deep" you go with the Software, but the Searches alone will help any user in their personal reading time or Study with a fluent reading of the text in their newly found treasures. When I think of the seminars Morris Proctor holds for Logos, and the amount of time nessessary to fully explain the power of the Logos search feature (e.g. all the search commands) It seems a little much for the beginner. Every study starts with a "mind set" that carries you through to your answer (fuel if you will). If you get hung up b/c you don't know how "Program" the software, or have to deviate to a help menu that could be averted with this Suggestion You could become distracted, and lose sight of the energy nessessary to complete the study in the first place. It is my Understanding that Logos wishes to make this as seemless as possible for the beginner. And although this discussion has gone extremely deep for the simplicty of the suggestion, it could help alot.

P.S. This includes "HIGHLY" the Programming that could be used in the Visual Filter Tool..

Unfortunately, you haven't advanced much in your support for your suggestion. HOW would this be better than what already exists? I'm not sure what you intend by a "drop-down menu for strings."

Concur, all Logos 4 menus, reading plans, and search already have drop down menus with many strings, not understand what is being requested.

Wondering if suggesting drop down menu of Logos 4 commands ? (so could pick and choose instead of needing to type most of Logos 4 command before command appears as drop down choice: e.g. rebuild index)
