Sorry copy and paste made the post SHOUT ... and since it was Logos shouting I felt obligated to let them do so on their forum.
EDIT: Corrected - it takes real creativity to mess up a link when you copy & paste
Hi MJ
Your fourth link points to the Trinitarian Studies collection not the one on Gender and the Bible.
The correct link is http://www.logos.com/product/5728/gender-and-the-bible-collection
Might be worth editing your post.

G'day MJ...J.B.Lightfoot I wouldn't miss for the world....#'s 3-5 I have no interest in...but I was wondering if you could sell #2 - The Ugaritic Baal Cycle a little to me...I am interested, but the price scares me in case something else is released at the same time (like the Anchor titles just recently in the same month as the Talmud - out of Anchor I had to settle for Charlesworth's 2 vol. Pseudepigrapha, and since I have most of the books in print form, it seemed Talmud had to take precedence!).

You could try asking for a payment plan. I was offered a payment plan for those two last week, but as I never use payment plans I didn't think twice about it, and it never occurred to me until I read your post that you're not supposed to be able to get payment plans for prepubs... Maybe there's an internal memo telling sales reps they can break the rules a bit over the AYBRL, because it's late, expensive, shipped with short warning, and in an already awfully expensive month? At least it can't hurt to ask.
I'd really like #4 to get produced. There was another thread asking why more women aren't Logos users. I think if you had collections like this one available, it would certainly help! I'm looking forward to having it in my collection.

Gotta have #2
Dogmatic Theology (12 vols.) Gender and the Bible Collection (12 vols.)
These are over the top now.

I'm "interested" in #2...but at that price?? I wouldn't buy it for half that price. But that's Brill...they habitually over-charge for stuff they publish. They won't see a dime from me. I have this thing against being a schmuck. To those willing to pay that nose-bleed price, all I can say is I hope you enjoy it. I can think of hundreds of things I'd rather spend that much money on. Sheesh.
[:#] LOL...the filter edited my Yiddish. [:D]

Enjoy your time at the library. Be sure to take good notes.

Is that what it was? Usually I can guess, but not this time. I really get cheesed off at this censor.
But that's Brill...they habitually over-charge for stuff they publish.
While things may have changed over the years, that is not my experience. Brill is (or at least was) willing to publish books with very little market simply because they were needed. Some of the books were even subsidized by businesses to meet the cost of printing. But where else would I look for an Old Turkic (Central Asian not Ottoman) dictionary? I definitely have a soft spot for Brill.

I am up for 2 and 4 at this time. I will get number 2 with 100% probability. I am sitting around 30% probability for number 4 so I may drop it. I am not interested in the other collections.
Thanks fgh...I might try phoning them.
George, would you sell The Ugaritic Baal Cycle a bit?
Gotta have #2 George, would you sell The Ugaritic Baal Cycle a bit?
Truthfully, I don't know whether to sell it or un-sell it. I would obviously like to see others subscribe so that it can be gotten into production asap, but I need to caution that it may not be for every person. Obviously there is a need for literature in Hebrew or a closely related language of the period since our base of texts is relatively small. The Ugaritic texts do provide such a body of literature for use in better understanding the Hebrew of the TANAK. The poetics provides an insight into Hebrew poetry as well. When we read the NT we have other texts such as Josephus, Philo, Epictetus, the Church Fathers, or the classical Greek literature. That is the function that the Ugaritic texts along with some other texts in related languages provides for Hebrew.
Now, all is not sweetness and light. The value of this set for you will be determined by how deeply you wish to go into the matter. It is somewhat technical. Some will benefit more by having the chaff removed before the wheat is served to them. It depends upon you. How much work do you want to put into it? How deeply do you want to go into it?
EDIT: I neglected to mention that some of the characters appearing in the Baal Cycle also appear in the TANAK thus providing a background for when they are found in the OT.
16 On that day, says the Lord, you will call me, "My husband," and no longer will you call me, "My Baal." 17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more.

G'day George, thank you for your honest assessment. I am somebody who would probably only get the value of reading the english text, but I have no problem buying something like that to benefit the L4 community at large, (At Christmas I bought Hammurabi's laws, which I have not even looked at yet...lol...and for that matter, The Illiad in Greek), and maybe me in the future.
At this stage...there are so many offerings though. And since I am a relatively new user, I feel I am catching up on the important resources (to me) that most seasoned Logos enthusiasts now take for granted I will give this resource serious thought however.

Thanks for mentioning that. Around Christmas I missed some items -- including this. I'll need to catch up myself.

In that case you might do well with Pritchard

I think this resource is included in the "ANE bundle" which is on my "to do" or should I say "to buy" list
I started with a Platinum package, so this was included.
Thank you for your input...I am still considering "The Ugaritic Baal Cycle" - I just wish Logos would give an indication sometimes of how long it will take from Pre-pub to completion. Such forecasting would be invaluable to working out one's budget, but since the dates nearly always get pushed back, they obvioulsy can't.
I joined one of those. I hope the progress bar turns green soon.
