Split pictures in Lion Histories

I'm now reading the third in the recently-published (in Logos) Lion History Series. The majority of the maps and photos appear divded by a white column down the middle. What's the reason for this? It makes using them in Ppoint or Word by copying and pasting a bit useless. (Screenshot below).

It's because many of the photos are split across the book binding in the print edition (I have the print editions of some of these volumes). Logos must not have been able to get digital files of the pictures from the publisher and so were limited to scanning them in from the print books. Because of the process of book binding, a small bit of the center of the image would have been lost in the process. It's a bummer. That was my disappointment about these books, too.
