Home Page Amazing Grace Devotion Bringing Up Midi Hymnal Does not Work on Logos 4.0 but does on 3.0f

One of my great joys has been to open the Home Page Amazing Grace Devotional - to meditate - and then (sometimes concurrently) listen to and study the Midi Hymnal brought up by clicking on Amazing Grace.

Well, it has stopped working, and I would appreciate any helpful idea to restore the function.

It DOES work from my Devotional Page on Logos 3.0f Homepage, BTW. So was is "broken" is likely to be in Logos 4, although each Engine actually uses the resource from a different location.

If I go to the FTP site and download the Midi Hymnal from there unto the Logos 4 Resources page, would that help?

Anyone have the same problem??

I can confirm that clicking on "Covenant" in the above example does not play the midi file it's supposed to.

The midi files in the Logos Hymnal, and the Logos Hymnal Media Resource do work as expected.

EDIT: Right clicking on "Covenant" and selecting "Media" and then "Open Media" does not do anything either.

I think you're right. It's one of the first that had midi capable Logos files. They can still be saved from within the program, apparently (just click on that thing that looks like an old-fashioned floppy disk -- remember those?).

You good folks at Logos are just magnificent! I'm sure you still have lots and lots on your plate, so I will wait patiently until you get the opportunity to correct this.

Meanwhile, I am hoping that you all can begin to pace yourself a little more and that things settle down for you a bit. Life is like a marathon - the long haul(!) - you folks have been doing "sprints" lately, and are much appreciated by so many of us! *smile* Although we still want the orders to come in for you so you will be strong and prosper for your own welfare and the future of the Logos Community. You are aware that many in the Logos Community do pray for you.

I just bought the MIDI the other day because it said that I did not have access to that resource, because it was locked. So I bought it. Logos sent it to me, and what I have found out thus far is the MIDI links in Amazing Grace have not been duplicated as I know it to the LOGOS 4 platform.

Can anyone verify that? I thought the MIDI aspect would be a nice addition. I did not realize that it was not available yet for LOGOS 4.

For your interest, Erik, I was just now doing my evening devotions and used Amazing Grace. I had some sound problems, but now works perfectly!

I had it on Logos 3.0g, and when Logos4 installed, it copied my Amazing Grace over. It worked perfectly right away until my Windows XP sound system acted up.

It is a real joy on my other computer with Windows7

You might install it on Logos3.0g, then synchonise licenses, and Logos4 will pick it up.

If that doesn't work, come back to the Forums or call Customer Service on Monday, and they will be most happy to unlock it for you.

When you say you bought the midi, what exactly did you buy?

Did you let indexing finish before trying this?

The Amazing Grace devotional does link to the Steve Green Midi Hymnal on my system, and I can play the midi from within Logos4.

I seem to remember a problem with Windows XP related to the version of media player installed. If you're using XP, consider upgrading media player to the latest version that works with XP and/or update the drivers for your sound card.

When you got this, you got it on CD. You had to have either installed in Logos 3 on same machine, Synchronized licenses, and then Logos 4 would pick it up the next time you opened it; or you need to call Logos with the license number and they will activate it in Logos 4. If you didn't do either of these things it is not yet activated in Logos 4.

Thank you Dominick. I will give LOGOS call. I no longer have 3.0g on my computer. Just out of curiosity, bookwise, is there a reason to? I upgraded to scholar after I moved over to 4.0, so I think the majority of books were already part of that from what I gathered the last time I spoke to a rep.

There are some midi files in the Logos Hymnal Media Resource. If you have that resource and can play those, you can probably play the ones in the Steve Green hymnal.

Okay youse guys. You got me to play around with it, now how do I stop it?!

One question: how do you stop the midi once it starts playing? The only thing that worked for me was switching to a new midi or closing the hymnal completely. Is there another way to stop the midi while keeping the resource open?

That was my question when I first played around with this too.

Look up to the short cuts bar, just to the left of the "Layouts" drop-down list button (it will appear between that button and the arrows that circle when Logos4 is syncing or checking for updates). When a midi file plays you should see a media bar appear with a play/pause, the title of the hymn and an "x" to close the bar and stop playing. I don't know what you'll see if your short-cuts extend all the way to the "Layouts" button.

This opened a whole can of worms for me, I'm kind of amazed there is not metrical index to hymns in all of logos. I guess that's why we have google. Thanks for your help.
