Mac Syntax Searching

Having ditched my PC for a Mac almost two years ago, I'm just transitioning from BibleWorks to Logos 4. I'm a bit mystified at the whole Syntax Query. I can't even build the sample syntax searches on the wiki, the interface seems to be broken. Does the mac syntax query tool have functional limitations? I'm also struggling with collections. I want to do a search across the LXX and NT. I think I've got a collection (NA26 w/ McReynolds and LXX with Logos Morphology) but can't get a search to go beyond the LXX. What is the secret?

Wow....do I feel lost.

Hi Clint and welcome.

Syntax searches need to be performed using the Syntax databases. The LXX and NA27 have morphological information for Morph searches, but are not set up for Syntax searching. You need to use the Syntax databases that are available in various Logos packages. Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm trying to put together a simple syntax search with the OpenText database. When I begin with a clause and try to select any of the checkboxes under the Level or Projected specifics, the checkbox flashes when I click on it then clears. I cannot select any specifics under Level or Projected.

For people who have made the migration from a complex query builder like BW or Accordance, is Syntax Searching a preferred tool once you invest some time? I've got to admit I do a lot of complex morphological queries in BW and I'm really struggling with how to translate those into syntax searches. I 'd like to make sure others have found the transition worthwhile.

"PC can create and edit Syntax Search. Mac can run Syntax Search (sync from PC), however, Mac lacks ability to check or uncheck items in Clause Level, Clause Projected, and Clause Category plus more Mac bugs; improving in 4.3 Beta 3."

There are a number of known issues with the syntax query editor on Mac that we expect to address during the 4.3/4.3a timeframe.
