If you own the Discipleship Journal resource http://www.logos.com/product/8581/discipleship-journal-anthology, do you use it? Would you recommend it?
If you use Logos 4 Mac, do the covers show up? [There was an old post about this in 2009 which was never given an update]

As a pastor I thought I would use this a lot. But in the years since I have owned this resource I have rarely used it; maybe twice in 3 or 4 years.
I use it occasionally. To be honest I would probably use it more if I just simply remembered it [:)]
As a non-scholarly person, I like to use it as a starter point for some of my studies, just to get a feel for where I should go. The articles are not too in depth and will usually give Biblical references to get me off to a good start. My guess would be that if you are trained through higher education you will not find it to be as good of a resource that a true layperson, such as myself would.
I bought it through a third party for about $25 and I think that it was worth it. I have jump started some studying using it just to get my compass calibrated and head into one direction.

I would agree with Rick - completely, and I have spent too many years in higher education, both as a student and as an educator. I do not consider myself a scholar, but am ordained and involved in regular preaching and Bible Study. I have found Discipleship Journal to be a good jumping off place. Would probably be disappointed if that is where I ended up.
Having said that, I have sometimes used this resource as an extended dictionary or encyclopedia - if I just need an overview of a topic mentioned by someone else, this can be a good place to begin.
Like the others who responded, I use this infrequently. It's worth what I paid for it (from a 3rd party), but is nothing to get excited about.

I assume you are asking because of the $19.95 price. If not, do not pay more, find the $20 price and it's worth it.

GOOOAAALLL!
I did. Thanks guys. [:D]
Is this a special offer? It looks like it is 89 dollars on the website. (If it is an email offer I understand that those are private I'm not asking anyone to share a private code)
Thanks
I have it and use it fairly extensively by copying some of the shorter articles into our newsletter for Small Group leaders, letters to missions teams and others. Owning the CD/software allows you to make up to 100 copies of each article, permitted you include the basic "used with permission" footnote.

Mike -
There are some websites, not affiliated with Logos, which sell old stock. Their supplies and selections are generally meager. it is my understanding that Forum guidelines prevent saying more.
I might suggest that you do a search of Google's shopping site - found at least one link there.

Thanks for the suggestion. A couple others suggested they don't use it regularly, but I am hoping to find a family ministries / discipleship position and think I would use it more often.
Deleted (there used to be a delete button but cannot find it). Sorry.
Edit: After the delete, I see that Floyd beat me to the punch again. [:)]

Yep - at least the ones I spotter were overpriced. The "Shopping" search got some lower priced ones.
Hi Mike, if you want to email me at rick68 at vqme DOT Com I will forward you an email from a third party who has it on sell until June 14. This is not a "secret" code or email. The very top of the email says:
Note: You may want to forward this to a friend

Thanks, I didn't know if this was a special deal through Twitter of Facebook. I prefer to order through Logos and take delivery by download on resources I'm really interested in. Like other's on this thread, I wouldn't buy this at the regular price but it looks like it will be worthwhile at a lower price (I did get an email this morning from a third party offering this resource at close to this price for another program I use but this is the type of resource I'd rather have in Logos). I did find this and ordered it for logos from a site that I regularly shop through. Thanks for your help. Thanks
