Polite Words to Destroy the Opposition

I've been reading the recently released 'Biblical Commentary on the NT' by Olshausen. So far, he's embraced the whole of the NT, until he got to Hebrews, where he began to cough a bit.

But his vocabulary for targeting those he doesn't agree with is quite impressive:

- 'Utterly worthless'

- 'Third class'

- 'Incomprehensible'

- 'Utterly contemptable'

- 'Unworthy'

- 'The whole hypothesis deserves to fall into oblivion'

Now, those were the good ole days, before people had coffee-tables!

Since this is academic-quality vernacular, I suppose our challenge is to weave these sayings into our forum posts. It could be, however, that the whole hypothesis deserves to fall into oblivion.

'Academic-quality vernacular'. That'll come in handy in some future post. Add a funny-face with glasses, and who can be offended?

Actually, I'd just assumed it was 1800s cross-ocean swaggering. That's a neat word.

Perhaps a bit more “rigor” and “vigor” in modern Biblical debate would be a good thing today :-).
