Mac 4.2b SR-1 Keeps crashing with a basic search.

Hello, I am new to Logos I just got it a few weeks ago and at this point it has been a huge disappointment. The program is unusable because of speed issues and it crashes all the time. When I do a simple search of the word "flag" to learn about the flags used by the twelve tribes the program crashes.

RE: speed I was told by support I needed a faster computer so I purchased Apple latest and greatest MacBook Pro 8G ram I7 Quad Core Processor with SSD drive and the program is still very slow. So my computer was never the issue.

Also the notes function does not work on any of the apple products, IE iPhone, iPad, and it only has basic functions on the Mac computer. If you type in bible verses it does not automatically create a link to them as described by sales rep!

If a product is marketed to Mac users there is a reasonable expectation it should work! Any updates resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Can you give us a screen shot? What "kind" of search are you doing? See my screen shot below.

The sales rep is correct about automatic links in the PC version. This is not yet functional in the Mac version. As for notes on the iPad, Bob has said this is coming "very soon."

P.S. It would be great if the NETS bible was an available resource.

Do you mean the NET Bible?try this: logosres:gs-netbible;art=div1 It is included with the Bible Study Package and above.

For stable versions, with your permission, Logos Technical Support can remotely connect to your computer to assist with crashes.

Other option for crashes is posting diagnostic log files. Wiki Mac Troubleshooting => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac section has log posting steps. Some Logos forum users have skill reading logs and suggesting possible remedies.

For new installation, wondering if indexing complete ?

Wiki page => Logos 4 Mac includes: "Logos 4 is resource intensive on Mac & PC – benefits from fast processor, graphics, and disk along with adequate memory (i.e. newer hardware since Logos 4 being designed for use over 5 to 8 years)." and "Three Logos 4 Mac menus do not follow historic Mac conventions: File, Guides, and Layouts - recommend quick click to display menu (may take seconds to display), then can right OR left click on menu items."

Wiki Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Feature Parity section has many Mac features needing improvement, including: "PC Notes have more capabilities than Mac, including automatic hyperlinking of scripture in notes and right click to Note item. One sync issue fixed in 4.3 Beta 2; couple bugs fixed in 4.3 Beta 3, editing keyboard shortcuts added plus crash fix in 4.3 Beta 5, compact view added for non-active Note(s) in 4.3 Beta 6"

Concur Logos 4.3 Beta 7 on Mac still lacks creation of automatic link, which does work on PC. Notes workaround is editing using Logos 4 on PC, then sync to Logos servers, sync to Mac, can click link on Mac to open Bible to verse (but lacks pop-up floating verse on PC).

Wiki Logos 4 Mac => Need Logos 4 PC feature? section includes virtualization and native boot tips. Thankful can install Logos 4 for my use in many places. Also am aware of Logos 4 Mac users editing notes using Logos 4 PC then syncing to Mac. Last month Bob Pritchett, CEO, posted => What Logos development is doing that includes:

Windows has more users than Mac, but Mac is behind and needs improvement, and it is gaining market share on the way to 50%. We consider it equally important to Windows, and already are at the point where some new work is Mac first, then ported to Windows.

Observation: while typing flag, a drop-down menu should appear with "search for flag" and couple more choices. If click "search for flag", search should open:
