Can it be? After all these delays? I received an e-mail message from Logos that they were about to begin processing orders.
I'm psyched. Can't wait. Will it actually ship today? I'm at the edge of my chair...
Anybody who hasn't ordered it yet, it isn't too late...
Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library (29 vols.)
The price is probably going to double in a matter of hours.
It would be nice, but I need to draw a line somewhere, and for $600 smackers I can't swing it now.
I'd just like to know how much you guys make a year. I mean, unless your church is paying for your books then I don't see how many of you can pay 600 or some 3000 worth of prepubs all at once. I'm happy that you can do it but there's something fishy about it imo.
Fortunately I got to lock it in for $499 earlier in the pre-pub cycle.
I don't work for a church, and am not as limited in my budget as some Logos users are. I feel very privileged. I spend a lot of time reading and doing research, and find digital books a thrilling form of access to so much research material. I report a lot of typos to Logos and recommend books to people when they ask for recommendations. So it behooves me to own as many as I can afford. I have 6621 resources in my Logos Library at present.
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit how much I've spent over the years for my Logos library as I probably could have bought it for less if I'd been more strategic about it. But taking advantage of pre-pub deals is one of the best ways I know to add to my library. And I feel OK about it, knowing that I've probably funded about a year's worth of salary for some Logos employee.
I'm glad you're happy for me, but I don't understand why you think there's something fishy about it?
Rosie, you omitted to mention for those of us who didn't read your previous post that you arre intending to leave your Logos library to a theological college, an excellent example you have inspired me to copy.
about to start processing - don't say when......????
Giovanni ... I like your humor (maybe unintended, but none the less good). Yes ... definitely 'fishy' (as in 'fishers of men').
I'm not in the fishermen or fisherlady world, but for me, I figure Logos is going to pull the plug on the L3 resource format eventually and I thoroughly enjoy L3. And so it's best to 'stock up' on 'fishing' supplies.
Which, by the way, for the greek/aramaic lovers, 'fishers of men' has an interesting past. Can you spell 'Josephus'? Ah, the riddle.
I mean, unless your church is paying for your books then I don't see how many of you can pay ...
Shall we say that some seem to spend in a month the total value of my collection?[:'(] But seriously some ministers do have book allowances, some people can use their purchases as a tax write-off, some are wealthy, some even give up their triple mocha no-foam half-caff morning latte. [C]
some even give up their triple mocha no-foam half-caff morning latte.
That's me. I make my own black, triple-strenghth coffee.

That's me. I make my own sludge.
Me too, brother.
As for this collection, I too am stoked! I get to gloat over my pastor...I mean boast in the Lord that He allowed me to receive it!
Lets call it "Nick Lynden Seminary" Not sure we will get accreditation, but 6000 resources! Don't feel bad, those we have already, we will give to those who are less fortunate. [:D]
Nicky, what say you and I start a seminary for the sole purpose of cashing in on Rosie's Library when she moves on.
LOL "moves on..." you mean when she dies...I don't think that's nice. Anyway, the point was made. I think most collect the tithe and spend it all on books [:P] [A]
In early 2009 a dollar cost something like 9.25 SEK. The week before bin Laden was killed it cost just below 6. For the moment it's about 6.35 and expected to continue upwards. That should tell you all why I buy as much as I can right now. If it should hit 8-9 SEK again, I can assure you my purchases will become much more infrequent...
As for lattes, my food budget is about half of what Swedish authorities considers to be the minimum, and my clothes budget is close to zero.
I think most collect the tithe and spend it all on books
I have donated more to seminaries, seminary libraries, education for pastors and their libraries than I've spent on Logos books for myself, so I don't lose a lot of sleep feeling guilty for how much I spend on Logos resources. Thanks for your reminder that it's important to have our priorities right in this life, not just after we're gone.

Or you could always do what I do...stay up all night when something exciting comes out from Logos. That's what I did when 4.3 Beta 6 was released with PBB for the first time. I was sleepy the next day, though... [|-)]
Peace! And Joy!! to my Brothers and Sisters...
I received lots of wonderful "stuff" today -- and! ....... am very pleased, of course!!
Thank you, Logos!
and! very surprised as to how quickly all those resources indexed....
Again, Thank you, Logos! It gets better and better, eh???
One of the side benefits of AYBRL shipping today is that the outstanding amount I have still in my pre-pub basket has gone down significantly. [;)]
Wait till I get my credit card bill this month, though... [:O]

I spoke far too early. Forgot about the downloading bug on Mac. Took me 4 restarts to get them all... Not what you want at 2-3AM! [:'(]

That's your outstanding amount? And after the AYBRL, the EEC and the Talmud has just shipped?
Even with today's low exchange rate that would cover all my expenses, except for Logos, for well over a year. Two years ago it would have lasted me nearly two.
