Is there any shortcut to adding mytag values to the library items? I know its primarily a one time investment but ...
Not sure exactly what you're asking, but...
You can select multiple items (using shift-click or ctrl-click), and add a tag to them all at once. If you filter the library to the books you want, you can use Ctrl-A to select them all and add a tag.

I must be missing something, do you do that from the Library window? Ctl-A doesn't appear to work. When I Ctl-Click or Shift-Click it just open the resource.

You need to click someplace besides the book icon and the name of the book. I had the same problem. A bigger window helps, so put it in a panel or float it.

Don't click on the name of the title, click on another column or in the empty space beside the title. Clicking the title opens the resource, clicking other things selects the resources.
